UCB vs. UCSB + Applying for a closed term

Peace Everybody,

I’m a CC transfer student who got accepted into UCB, UCSD, UCSC and UCM. When I was originally applying for transfer, I was basing my decision to transfer off of the English Department of each school, and ended up not choosing to apply to UCSB. However, now as the semester is coming to an end I’m realizing how much I want to major in history, and at UCSB.

Also, I’m in the CA Army National Guard, and will be deployed until December of this year. UCB has already told me that I can defer my enrollment until spring, and just begin my classes when I come back. But I really want to go to UCSB. I’m going to apply for a closed term using the instructions on their website, but idk. If I don’t get into UCSB, I’m really tempted to just stick around a CC one more year, and reapply to UCB, UCLA and UCSB, and see where I get into.

Any advice or suggestions? Has anybody ever applied for a closed term before?
