If you are applying to transfer to Berkeley anyway, it is much cheaper to stay at a California CC than to spend a large amount of money at out-of-state UIUC.
Keep your GPA high and I’m sure you’ll be able to transfer to Berkeley.
The top 5 or 6 UC schools are likely as good as UIUC (also a great school). So you should apply to more than just UCB and I think you will be very happy. Leaving Cali without a scholarship … really difficult to justify. UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UCD, UCSB. Since engineering is an impacted major at many of these … spread yourself around, maybe even through in a CalPoly as a safety. So no disappointment possible.
You can self-study, take additional programming or math classes, maybe even work … just make sure you keep UCs happy and get all those courses done.
@DrGoogle thats the plan and I will need a solid reason to explain why I really wanna transfer from there
@PickOne1 Yeah I do CS classes from MIT open course ware, but is there I can get certified
I know mostly UC’s are really great and offer great education, but they all the dont have same quality of kids
( no offence). People in UCB would be totally different and have different aims. Its not that UCB has some alien technology to teach. I wanna go there to live in that atmosphere and make connections with the people who think big.
Its not that other UC’s dont have that kind of people but the ratio is really low compared to other UC’s.
But thanks guys, u guys r rebuilding my faith of going to UCB.
In real life, the computer industry is filled with people from many universities, not just UCB and UIUC.
Also check out the UC transfer forum, from what I’ve read pay attention to your pre-req is key. There’s a lot of advice from previous students who were successfully transferred to Berkeley. You’ve got a plan and good luck with transferring.
