UCB vs UIUC vs USC vs Brown CS focus on Game Design

Hi everyone,

My DS is accepted by the above colleges, and is deciding which school to attend.

Son is a more laid-back type student. He works hard but not fuss over grades, very creative and prefers a cooperative learning environment. (He is surrounding by students whose only goal is getting straight A+s in HS, and he doesn't like that. He is one of the very few who are willing to help academically as a student.)

Son wants to enter video games industry after colleges, and it seems like USC's CS/Game Design program is the most suitable right now. But Berkeley has one of the most strong CS programs (son get into L&S, not EECS), is close to home. It seems hard to pass.

Regarding to UIUC's CS, personally I would pass (compared to Berkeley and considered the weather and location), but my husband's boss keeps suggesting UIUC's CS is super than Berkeley.

Brown is totally different than other schools in size and culture. I do think my son will fit there (that's why he chose to apply in the first place). But my family couldn't find many info regarding to it's CS program (I think this is due to its size of graduates), other than that its CS offers game deign courses.

My family has done some researches of the the above colleges, will take son to visit each school during spring break, but still, I'll really appreciate any insight info/any opinions regarding to these schools' Computer Science program.
