This discussion was moved from an unrelated dorm discussion. OP is @Sirius_BlackLion Has anyone attended UCD for an Animal Sciences or similar major? I’d love to hear about the program and would really appreciate any advice related to getting into UCD. Thanks!
@Sirius_BlackLion:
Since you are a Freshman, I would not focus on any particular school at this point.
- You should take classes that interest you, which will in turn help you excel in these classes.
- Increase your HS course rigor as you progress through HS but not at the expense of your grades.
- Find EC’s in which you enjoy doing/participating in over the next 4 years. If Animal Science/Vet school is a future career, then volunteer at a local Animal shelter and get some hands on experience.
- The summer before Junior year, do some ACT/SAT test prep.
- Most important is enjoy your time in High School and have fun.
The landscape of UC admissions 4 years from now may be very different so just do your best and here is some UCD specific admission information.

@Sirius_BlackLion I can’t tell you what to do to get in but I might be able to answer questions about the majors. Was there something in particular that you want to know?
From what I have heard, once you are at Davis, Animal Science is a more competitive major than Animal Biology.
