help me choose!!!

UCD - no comparison.

hahaha well that's what i've been hearing
but my parents really want me to go to irvine..i'm just trying to help myself realize that maybe i could actually do well there...
i just need some specific examples lol

Davis has one of the best biological science programs in the nation.
I found that both on the main UCD site, and here:
http://biosci.ucdavis.edu/usnews_ranks_gg.html

It's also listed on UCD's Wikipedia entry.

That link is about graduate studies in bio, not undergrad, but I still think that Davis is a great option. Actually, I think that you could go to any UC for science and not be let down--they're powerhouses when it comes to all things science-y :-)

Oh, you're right.
Here:
UC Davis News & Information :: UC Davis Conservation Biology Programs Are Tops
:D

Tell your parents that for the year 2006, the last year I could find info for, Davis is 14th in the nation, according to the National Science Foundation, in total R&D expenditures in the biological sciences. This is ahead of all other UC schools.

UCI has undergraduate research for Bio. It may look better for grad schools.

Every school has undergrad reasearch (especially for bio) =/

Davis definitely also has research for undergrads in the bio sci department as well. Check out both schools, they're comparable in terms of stats/prestige (some argue davis has slightly better rankings, but this is trivial). As a Davis student who is originally from Irvine, i can say that they are very very different places. Make sure you check both out, and if you want an in depth breakdown of how i feel about each place, message me and i can give you my perspective.

But from your parent's perspective the difference between UCD bio and UCI bio is not significant.

i dont think academic difference between uci and ucd is significant...go to where you like better...

is bioengineering covered when you people are talking about biology?

If we are talking engineering USNWR ranks UCD 33rd for undergraduate engineering and UCI 48th. UCD also has the largest engineering program of all the UC's.

It really shouldn't matter much academically if it's for undergraduate education, but more on what what you can do and how much you are willing to do that'll be the question of whether UCD or UCI is better.

Honestly, it doesn't matter. BirdKiller is right. Go to the school where you will be happer, they're basically the same thing. If you have a good GPA and internship experience by the time you graduate, you WILL get into an bioengineering firm from either of these schools. Some people place seriously look at ranking WAY too much (collegemom16). One goes to college to get a job right? You're going to get the same opportunities from both places, with the same salaries. Also, how do you know you won't change majors in college (into Economics? etc). Good luck
