I WAS FREAKING REJECTED BY DAVIS as a transfer. I had a 3.80 transferable GPA and ALL THE REQUIREMENTS FOR MY MAJOR MET. I had so many community hours and extracurricular activities. I tutored ESL students and speak 6 languages fluently. I KNEW THIER BIOCHEM MAJOR WAS IMPACTED SO I APPLIED AS A PLANT BIO ( Obv. having all the requirements met since I had Biochem requirements met).

I got into UCSD and now waiting on Cal.. ugh.. I HATE THIS. I AM SO DONE WITH FREAKING DAVIS.

... CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON? SHOULD I APPEAL? WHAT SHOULD I DO?

@Navneet

That’s very odd, did you have IGETC done? You should call and ask though if you still wanna go there.

I got waitlisted by UCSD and accepted to davis. lets trade yeah?

@Happytrain, ROFL.

Navneet, was UCD your first choice? Just wondering.

UCSD is the higher ranked campus, on the beach, near Mexico…

Cheer up :)

The funny thing was when I checked on assist.org, I applied to UCSD knowing I didn’t have 3 of their requirements. They required LINEAR ALGEBRA, PHYSICS 3A and 3B (Calculus based), and I STILL GOT IN, which doesn’t make any sense. I had ALL THE REQUIREMENTS for UCD. =P

No, actually I was taking Socio in summer and that is the only class I needed to complete my IGETC. But that had nothing to do with my major.

Yes it was, it was closer to my home. I have to fly 2 hours to get to UCSD.

UCs generally are pretty strict about having IGETC done by the end of Sprng.

Two of my friends doing engineering have been denied UCD but accepted into UCLA, kind of odd.

Plant Bio is UCD’s pride and joy (UCD is the #1 agricultural school in the country). I assume you looked at the transfer percentages into that program? I have no idea what they are, but I do know they don’t just open the door for that major. I am sorry to hear about your application.

Just curious what languages you speak fluently. I speak 3 myself and eventually want to get to 5.

I applied as a bio major to UCSD and I barely had ANY of the pre-reqs done and got waitlisted. I only did 1 semester of bio, calc and chem A and Chem B. Overall I got into UCLA, UCI, waitlisted to UCSD and rejected to UCD…Who the eff does davis think they are?

I’ve heard that Davis will reject some applicants who have high GPA and transcendental academic background because they assume these people apply Davis just for backup, most of them will be accepted by higher ranked universities like UCB, UCLA or UCSD. So Davis will take the ones whom they think they’ll stick with Davis after admitted.Well,this is just a rumor.

rejected from UCD and accepted to UCSD and complaining like a toddler?

whiner baby alert. whiner baby alert.

^yeah seriously

also @ThePavin the two school’s rankings are almost the same now…

Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, French and French. I put 5 because Hindi and Urdu are similar and speaking but different in writing.

@Navneet

The biggest shocker is the fact that you are completely unaware of how much UC campuses, over and over again, stress the completion of IGETC courses - which you have yet to achieve. Luckily, you were admitted to UCSD. So I don’t quite understand why you are even whining about this. If you are keen on transferring and hoping to attain a bachelor’s degree one day, please make sure to pay extra attention to fulfilling your major requirements, college requirements, and university requirements. As a UC Davis graduate, I did my research first - before whining to the public about why things did not turn out the way I had hoped for.

@UCDprincess

Well-written and Yes IGETC is a huge factor in transferring!

@northbeach It’s not always just about the prestige of the school though. OP said that Davis was his first choice.
