Rejected Mechanical Engineering 35 act, lowish UC gpa (max private highschool rigor), instate, filled up 18/20 on activity list with substantial awards and reigional leadership posititons. Idk weird. @GamerStudent223 both possibly overqualified?

@Questioning2772 From my observations, UCs really emphasize on GPA.
can confirm that they do focus on other things besides gpa
i had below a 3.4 unweighted and i still got in
my SAT was alright and i did okay in a few APs, so not sure if that made up for my poor GPA
@Grivpha are you in Engineering? I am just trying to find out for future references. I have been told that GPA and SAT count 75%.
For UCSB, it’s 50-50 (50% academic and 50% other factors).
politics, it’s probably an easier major to get in than any STEM ones

Son got accepted to Sociology. 3.95 UCGPA, 1420 SAT. He’s essentially pre-law which has allowed him to tactically target less impacted majors. I’m convinced that this has been a huge benefit. Got to say that I am a UCD alum and would never have been able to get accepted if I had been applying in today’s competitive world. Best wishes to those still awaiting their decisions.

My daughter was waitlisted with a 4.1 GPA, 32 ACT, Undeclared Major. Does anyone know the chances of getting off the waitlist?
If you get the blue “still being prepared” financial aid bar, does that mean that you will be offered a merit award or does that appear for every accepted applicant? We did not file a FAFSA. Thanks.
