Hey guys!
I'm planning to become an econ major for my undergraduate studies. I got into economics major for davis and GWU, but a double major in pre-econ and accounting for UCSB.

I would really appreciate some insight and advice because i'm in an absolute 3-way split :(

My Criteria - Quality of Education, Job/Future opportunity, Prestige, Bang for Buck, Stepping stone for a prestigious graduate degree

Other Points - All friends are going to east coast, most family is west coast

I'm not much of a party person, but i do like to have fun occasionally :)

Thank you soo much :)

I can tell you as an Econ & Acctg major that it’ll be quite a bit harder here than at Davis. Econ requirement into the major at Davis is a 2.0 GPA and not impacted from what I heard from my cousin at UCD now. Also UCD grants approximately 20% students As in classes such as Econ 1B, which he is taking now. However, at UCSB only the top 6% will be awarded with As, and there is a strict limit by the department. Also, if you’re under a 2.85 GPA at UCSB, you really won’t get into the major without appealing and the cutoff for appeals is that you must be +/- .01 or .1 GPA. I feel that if you’re not going into business or accounting, then you should pick the campus in which you feel most comfortable

6% vs 20% is a huge difference, thank you so much for this info, i really appreciate your help :)

Just one question though! How are the Econ & Accounting classes at SB? (Size, professors, teaching methods and all) :)

Thank you very much again!
