Hey guys whats up? I’m a 20 year old male looking for roommates on-campus. I’m transferring to UCD and thinking about living in Cuarto. I’m still trying to get the details on housing there and what its like (cause i’ve heard some negative things) and am hoping to get more info… I’m looking to find roommates that are social, but also studious. I’m definitely outgoing and like to party, but also am very focused. Hopefully Cuarto works out, but I am open to other options also…

Hit me up if u wanna talk… (Sounds like a dating ad, weird)

zsomers1@gmail.com

hey msturbo02, what negative things have you heard??

My only option was to get my own place not affiliated with the university or anywhere near campus. Why? I am an extremely private person who likes her space. When you live in their residence halls it’s like living with the parents complete with rules and bathroom sharing. Even their apartments, which are considered “off campus” have a strict no-smoking rule (even in the bedrooms). I don’t smoke but still I can’t stand the thought of someone enforcing their rules on me in my private time. . . I have gotten too used to living on my own and can’t abide the thought of living by someone else’s rules :)

However, for transfers who haven’t lived on their own, the residence halls are a great option and close to the school.

hey im in the same boat as some of you 1 year transfers! I’ll be 19 in June and i’m not much of a partier so I don’t want to be stuck with a bunch of rowdy 21+ year olds. they gave us a tour of Castilian at the Decisions Day and yeah it really did look like a motel! :frowning: But it seems like a decent mix between off campus apartments and res halls… I kind of want the res hall experience I missed out on, but the hot tub/pool/own bathroom deal at Castilian sounds really nice. Plus I want somewhere to park my car and for my boyf to park his car when he visits.

Basically, what’s the scene at Castilian like? Is it a bunch of older transfers? And I dont want to live with freshman but I don’t want to meet ONLY transfers either… and even though i’m not crazy about partying I want to meet friendly people. :P

According to the Davis Wiki Castilian’s pretty quiet compared to the other dorms. And it used to be an apartment complex the school bought and turned into dorms. It also said they’re shutting it down at the end of 2010-11 because “necessary renovations are too costly.” that doesn’t sound good…

idk what to dooo!

hey anyone want a roommate for the SSAs?

I saw some pictures of the rooms in Castilian and they look really small. Can you get two beds on the floor or do they have to be bunked?

2 beds fit on the floor just fine, they r just as big as a normal bedroom

Has anyone filled out the housing application yet?
I just SIRed last night  Will UCD email me housing information and the application?

any idea when we pay for our fall classes and housing??

@ sophie

you will be able to register for housing…

You’ll know when to pay for classes/housing… they will bombard you with “courtesy” reminders through your MyUCD email (be sure to check that everyday). This year they implemented the “pay-or-be-dropped” policy in which they will drop you from your registered courses if you haven’t paid for tuition by the deadline… pretty harsh, but everyone’s gotten used to it.

If I remember correctly, tuition/housing fees weren’t due until late September – Shortly before school started.

lol @ bombard… haha good to know… thanks for heads up
