(UCD) how hard is it to change your major? (help!)

hey guys ! first of all, congrats for those of you who made in
and let's don't worry too much about not hearing anything yet (i know that doesn't help but still..) i am still waiting on UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCI too :(

ok so back to the point.
i got an admission approval from davis (yesterday) but i would like to change the major to econ instead of textile/clothing. according to the website it says wait until the end of the first quarter to change your major but i don't know if the change of major is that easy as it sounds..
does anyone know? :(

I would like to know the same!

hi there! i’m currently a student at ucd and have already changed my major! it’s suuuper easy. all you have to do is be in good academic standing (which i believe is like above a 2.0 - that’s why they want you there for the first quarter) and all you have to do is get signatures from your advisors and college deans if you’re planning on switching colleges. the process is SUPER easy and it took me about 30 minutes to walk around campus collecting signatures and it takes about two weeks for them to process your major change and viola! you are done!! i seriously would not sweat it - i remember freaking out about it for some unknown reason but i was able to transfer into the most impacted major (biosci) with no problems!

hey shnugglies thanks for your reply ! it helps a lot
do they also consider the numbers of people assigned in that desired major?
for example, if I want to change my major to economics, would high numbers of currently enrolling students will affect the advisors’ and the deans’ approval?

For non-impacted majors, is it also super easy to switch if not all prereqs are done?

^ i know someone who switched from english to sociology, not all pre-reqs completed.

nope, high numbers don’t affect anything! all you need is a 2.0 or higher i believe!
