I would put ucsd on a higher tier but they are all close enough that everything is about how well you do in college, not where you go.

yeah UCSD is definitely in a higher tier

It depends on the field. In general, UCSD has developed strengths in natural sciences and engineering; UCI has strong humanities and arts, social ecology (including criminal justice and law), computer science and informatics; Davis has strong agriculture, etc.

paradoxical one of UCD's biggest strengths is being a comprehensive University. UCD has over 100 major choices. Some of the standouts programs in addition to agriculture are engineering, biological, food, animal, and environmental science, psychology, managerial economics and landscape architecture.

UCSD has an excellent economics program and is also quite comprehensive.

UCSB is great in physics and engineering.

so again. 5 posts later....

ucd=uci=ucsb=ucsd. concluded.

hey paradoxical, how about ucb? what is ucb strong in?

ucb is good in engineering and business.

And pretty much everything else

The ranks are only a few above/below each other, they won't matter at all, except if you want to inflate your ego and brag about going to a XX ranked school !
