UCD Summer session

Looks like they are offering upper division classes for the summer. And you qualify for financial aid if you are admitted for fall 2012 and applied FAFSA.

UC Davis Summer Sessions

However, housing seems very expensive. 2000 per each session.

Those who are intending to attend UCD, What do you think about the program?

I’ll be taking summer classes at whichever institution I end up going to; no time to waste.

@ jyoung
i’m with you, definitely taking summer classes where ever i end up.
UCD does not get much love on this site. no official UCD transfer
admission thread yet? or did i miss it?

can’t we just find our own housing?

Wait - I thought you couldn’t take summer classes to whichever UC you transfer to (until the next summer after you’ve been admitted). Did Davis change this?

@ Prentice: I guess so, or maybe we just never noticed. I was also surprised to find that out.

[UC Davis Summer Sessions](http://summer-sessions.ucdavis.edu/financialaid.cfm)

@ northbeach: Yep! Check the UC Davis Uloop page–there are TONS of postings from students living in apartments in Davis looking for a roommate or subletter. :slight_smile: You can also check craigslist for the Sacramento area–just remember to type in “Davis” for “search for” to narrow the housing results down to Davis (though it’ll also provide listings from nearby cities).

UCSC’s registration was tonight but their system said I had to satisfy an entry level writing requirement…I finished igetc…■■■

can you get financial aid for UCD summer session that will help cover housing costs? Whats summer financial aid like??

I don’t think you get financial aid. financial aid starts in the fall not in the summer sadly.

@uchappytrain

On their website, they say financial aid is available for those who have applied FAFSA

[UC Davis Summer Sessions](http://summer-sessions.ucdavis.edu/financialaid.cfm).

But it is not very clear what kind of aid you get. (i.e. blue gold, cal grant, pell grant etc)

I feel like absolutely no one has been talking about Davis… when will they be coming out with decisions?

^ friday. thats why i keep asking if ucsd/ucd/ucla all comes this week for sure on the Facebook group.

ohhhh hohohoho; **** :/

Facebook? Can someone inbox me the group link?

@ uchappytrain: financial aid for summer only covers classes. It does not cover housing.

Also, to get an estimate of how much financial aid you’d be receiving and what type, you can use the [Summer Financial Aid estimator](Summer Financial Aid).

@ Philosoup: You do get financial aid for summer if you’re admitted for Fall 2012. See my other post on this page (#5)

oh okay thanks for that link!

last summer i received a pell grant and bog fee waiver at my CCC. wonder if they have a fee waiver for summer tuition? is that what you mean by it covers classes? that would be fantastic. although, i have to get accepted first, and i might attend UCSB instead. oh well, just wish this week would speed up. UCLA and Davis might post decisions on friday. at least i hope so.

@sopranokitty
thanks! yeah, housing is Cheapola in the Davis area.

Great idea if y’all plan on attending summer session once you’re admitted. Indeed, no time to waste! I wish I had done that. I’ll be graduating on time, but it would have been nice to get a “head start.”

As for financial aid, a majority of people get offered loans and a select number of people get offered grants. I will be applying for summer financial aid April 30 (or around that date) so I’ll see what I get “offered.”

Good luck everyone =)

@sopranokitty
i tried the estimator, but it said that i had to be enrolled as a current student first. but thanks for the link, it does have other information that is helpful!

@chailatte
hope we can get loans in the summer. that would be awesome!
but i wonder? at my CC no loans, only pell and bog fee waivers for summer.

Good luck all, decisions out friday?
