UCD Transfer Spring Troubles

Hoping someone might have experienced or know someone who has experienced my situation and can give some insight into what happens.

I am transferring to UCD and was accepted with the contingency to maintain all Cs for spring semester.

Background is I have, according to the transfer credit summary, 105 adjusted transferable units with a 3.26GPA.

This semester I received an A in Prop of Materials and B in Interpersonal communication…the problem is I got a D in Diff EQ and I very well could get a D in Structured programming.

These are all classes that are technically required for admission to engineering. I am enrolled and 10 on the wait list for Diff EQ this summer and if I get in will get an A or B. But the other class is already closed there is no chance.

Any insight is appreciated, thanks all.

I believe you will get rescinded. Sorry.

Would you say that is mainly based on the fact I can’t make up that structured programming before Fall? I have 120 quarter units completed right now whether that matters for anything. All other grades are As/Bs.

Two Ds in major courses. The only slight opening would be if you don’t get a D in the second course (I just saw now there is that possibility), plus they allow you to retake diff eq in summer for a guaranteed grade. But all in all, I think it’s going to be tough to get away from those grades. Really try and negotiate.

Yep, lindy is right. If your contract said get Cs and you got Ds, it is likely you will be rescinded.

However, I’d call and ask. There is no harm in asking their opinion.

Thanks for the info, I will call as soon as my last grade posts. If I get a D making that phone call twice would be even more awkward.

In the case it’s rescinded there isn’t much I can do accept retake the classes and reapply right?

Is there anyway to get a C?

You can reapply, but there are a couple of things to note. If you get a D, you will be able to retake and have the grade get replaced. If you get a C, they will not accept a retake for an A or B to replace the C.

Diff EQ is definitely a D already posted and I’m wait listed to take it in the summer.

The programming I’m waiting for the grade on the final, it’s so on the fence I have no idea what I’m going to get between a D or C. And this class is closed out for the summer not even wait list.

I feel like it’s basically all down to this programming class, because if I get a C there and get an A or B in the summer with diff EQ I would think I should be ok.

Wait, are you going to be okay to still attend UCD this Fall, or okay to reapply?

I think UCD has to allow you to make up the classes in the summer, which they may or may not do…

Agree with @luckie1367, definitely call. As tough as it is, you will get a better possible result if they know in advance. If it doesn’t work out, I would suggest retaking the courses and apply next year. BTW, this is kind of tricky, but if it comes down to really being pretty sure you aren’t getting in, get two Ds or a D and a C-, so you can repeat the courses. You cannot repeat a C.

Haha, I just now saw luckie wrote the same thing… :))

Ha @lindyk8 great minds…

I hope so OP but those grades still sound kind of iffy.

Thanks for the responses, so I got a C in the programming class and I’m up to 8th on the wait list for diff EQ in the summer. Will call Davis tomorrow and let them know of what happened and my plan to fix the situation.

Good luck!

Good plan, hopefully good news!!

Is there anyone better than undergrad admissions office to contact because that was rather useless. Just told me to update online and they’ll notify in 7-10 days. I updated all that and wrote out my reasoning and plans to rectify so do I just hold my breath for a couple weeks now?

I called a couple different times until I found someone who actually answered my question. Call again asap.
