So I recently got accepted to these schools but am having troubling deciding on where to go. Does anyone have any input to which school is better engineering wise and overall school wise? Thank You!

davis is known for biology and its sciences… SB is more geared towards engineering. what major did you get into SB/davis for?

I had same choice. I picked Davis over Purdue and SB, but for Bio Medical Engineering. Davis vs SB:

Davis has the largest engineering of the UC’s, lets you switch easily and has many choices, nothing is impacted. SB has better traditional engineering programs, but not by that much. Overall, Davis is better. But what is your specific major?

I was leaning towards Mechanical Engineering. Do you know which has the better reputation in engineering and is easier to get a job from?

Job from Undergrad? Both will give you good jobs. SB seems to have a slight edge, but they seem pretty similar. Reputation is subjective. Both are good schools, it comes down to preference when it is this close.

thelegend: did you get in to davis in march or just now through wait list?

in march. Anyway how would I have SIR’d and have all this research if I got in now lol.

haha you are right, that is my bad. hakyo, did you get into davis for mechanical engineering?

The programs are pretty equal… Santa Barbara has a slight edge I think but they’re close enough. I got in for engineering at UCSB, UCD, and UCSB, and I’m choosing UCSB or UCSD based on the location. So yea, I would choose Santa Barbara for that reason.

Yeah… i think it’s cause they are so equal that people tell me that their own schools are better haha… dang im stumped…

Visit the campuses and decide yourself. Davis and SB are similarly ranked. I would say only really go to SB if you were interested in Chemical Engineering, otherwise just see the feel of the campuses.
