UCD vs. UCSD

these are the only two schools i got into. im majoring in computer science and business, which one should i go to?!

Did you not submit your SIR or something.... UCSD is better at CS, although I'm not sure about Davis' business school since UCSD is still building its Rady School.

thanks peppers, my SIR is due on June 1st

The environments at these two schools is really different. Which do you prefer?

The environments are really different. I am a recent UCI grad and in general, I would easily choose UCD over UCSD. I had friends at all the UC's and have spent time at UCD and UCSD.

While UCSD is ranked higher, there is no real difference in the workplace; unless of course you intend to work in a specific location in California, since UCD feeds into the Bay Area and UCSD into SD and socal.

You will definitely get a great education at either place. Good luck!

Hey la_demolition, I'm in the same dilema as the original poster. I'm also deciding between UCD vs. UCSD. How come you said you would choose UCD over UCSD, just wondering?

I know alot about UCD since I've lived in Northern CA my whole life and been to the campus many times, but have never visited UCSD before so I have no idea what's it's like there. When I finish college, I plan to settle in Silicon Valley to find work in engineering.

Well, I was a Poli Sci major, so I might not be the best authority if you are in engineering. (Like, I have no idea if UCSD has the best engineering program in the country, etc...)

I am from Norcal too, and I chose UCI over UCD partly because I wanted a change. after spending time with my friends at UCSD, I just didnt like how there was 7 colleges and it felt really science-focused as a school. UCD has a good sports program, a better social scene and good greek system.

Apart from better weather and possibly some advantages if you go into a particular field (I have no idea what that is though), I think UCD is a much better school and anyone from jocks to tree-huggers to real studious-types will feel at home.

nate cali - if you are looking to work in silicon valley, I would think that UCD would be a better choice for you.

hope this helps

Hey thanks for the info.

Btw, my cousin is also a poli sci major. What career field are you in now that you have just graduated in that major?

financial services
