Didn’t see a forum for UC Davis YSP 2016. Who all applied?

Last year they were out on 04/09 I believe. so should be around that time.

srk2017, I’m sorry you didn’t get in, especially since you started the thread and kept us up to date of when notifications came out.
As for posting stats, my dd has good grades and test scores but I don’t think they even ask for scores other than APs. It’s probably a combination of the high school transcript with the recommendations but I think the writing part was the main thing so that is very subjective imho. Did you apply to other programs? I’m hope you will get into another program you like. Are you a current junior?
my S is a junior. He is waiting for one more program. He has great grades, scores and good ECs including some research @ UCD. I guess either essays or rec letters were not good enough.
I hope he gets in. I saw the thread on HSHSP so I’ll cross my fingers for him. That’s amazing he was already able to do research at UCD. YSP is so small, geez, only 4 people even posted on this thread. Good luck!

I was accepted. Some stats I have are 4.0 UW GPA, 5 on AP Chinese, 34 ACT. EC’s include class council for 3 years, boy scouts (eagle), and v badminton team captain.
Congrats highsch00lstress! Are you going? Any other programs you are waiting for acceptances? Are you from California?
Accepted! Some stats-2400, 4.0 UW, varsity sport, HOSA int’l placer, leadership in band, etc. Honestly though, based on friends with similar stats who were deferred/rejected–it comes down to the essays (same goes with all other competitive summer programs).
For those of you attending ysp, did they ever send a confirmation when you mailed in the acceptance forms? Thanks.
@bibliophile5, DD sent her packet in on the Monday before it was due with a post office receipt that told us it was delivered in time and didn’t receive any confirmation or updates. She also paid the deposit and that did show up instantly on her ysp page. I guess they have to sort through it all and we will probably get more information closer to the dates of YSP. From past posts, it looks as though you find out what research project you get when you arrive at Davis.
After some digging, it also looks like check-in is in the afternoon which is good for us as we have a long drive. Some tips that I’ve read are the dorms are chilly from air conditioning so you need a warm blanket. You will want a bike, too. If you don’t have one, there was a way to rent them and also need a bike lock.
I looked at the photos on the facebook page and still can’t figure out what clothes a kid needs for the lab work so I do hope they send something in a timely manner. We are not used to that heat and have no appropriate clothes so if it turns out that shorts and t-shirts are not acceptable, we need to prepare ahead of time. Plus, you need all the normal dorm stuff, extra long twin sheets, laundry basket, etc…
My kid is excited about going but slogging through finals and AP tests comes first. I hope all of you have a wonderful time!

I hope whoever joined YSP had good first day. My son ended up finding a research internship one of the labs which also has couple of YSP candidates.
