Major: Animal Science
3.39 gpa
golden 4: A in stats, C+ in critical thinking, B in public speaking, Bio & Chem in progress but expect A’s.
Local: no, out of state (transfer student)
I am a member of the animal club and have over a year of work experience in the field (animal hospital: kennel attendant)
I work full time and am a full time student.
I will have over a 3.5 this semester (spring) but I’m not sure if they’ll even look at that…
Applied: Chico, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal Poly SLO, UCDavis
Rejected: Cal Poly Pomona, Cal Poly SLO
Accepted: Chico
Since you have been rejected from Cal Poly SLO and Pomona, I think your chances are at best about 50/50 at UCD. You have picked a very popular and competitive major at UCD for obvious reasons and as OOS transfer, you are low person on the totem pole when it comes to priority in the admission process.
I wish you the best of luck and hopefully I am wrong.
Agree with @Gumbymom, but California needs the money so, you may have a chance based on that alone. Are you prepared to pay $55K per year? There is no financial aid for OOS students.
update: I GOT ACCEPTED INTO UCDAVIS!
aunt bea, i got some financial aid but i will have to pay the remaining 30k in loans.
thank you both for your comments!
Congratulations on your acceptance. You are aware that as a student you can only take out $7500 in loans for Junior/Senior year? Are you parents going to sign for the Parent Plus loans to make up the difference? Although $60K is not a huge amount of debt, if you are planning to go to Vet school, this will be significant. Good luck.
aunt bea & gumbymom:
you both were right; it was too much $ so I didn’t take the plunge. I want to thank you both for your honest advice! I am still moving to California but will be staying with family I have there. I’m planning on attending Mount SAC and getting my California residency to re-apply in the fall (2017).
as i mentioned in the other forum, it is impossible to establish residency if you come here and study at a CC. Please double check and validate your plan before you move.
