I thought I would start a thread for anyone accepted or applying to Burnett Honors College so we can share information. My daughter is excited about committing to UCF. Her myHonors login shows the reply forms went out on February 15th. We live in the same county and hope to hear back soon to reply and reserve her spot. Any information is welcome especially from
other students currently or formerly attending BHC. My daughter is our oldest so this is all a new experience for us.
Hi, I’m interested. My DS just got accepted to BHC. We are still learning details. Plan to attend orientation June 6/7.
My daughter will be in BHC also and we are also attending orientation June 6/7 and so excited. We were truly blown away by everything we have heard/learned from the honors college so far and had a great opportunity on Scholars Day to meet with many of their students. They were very passionate and proud of the honors college and were great spokespeople for it. We were very nervous about UCF being so huge of a school and that made us feel so much better. We are out of state and my daughter (and me too!) felt so much more relaxed after meeting those kids that she had made the right choice.
Oh, I should probably mention WHAT was so impressive to us. These were not what I think of as “normal college kids” (like I was for sure!) going to college to have some fun and end up with some degree and then hopefully get a job. These kids were full of information on all of the opportunities they have. Between the volunteering they were all doing, the research opportunities they were already given, and all of the other things that will give them a “leg up” once they are ready to graduate, I realized these kids are being set up to succeed in whatever path they go as long as they embrace some of these things. Not every college kid is offered these opportunities at all and the BHC seems to really care about supporting these kids to set themselves apart from their peers when they are out in the real world and looking for jobs!
Orientation and registration is in the books. We still have a bit to finalize with Towers and the schedule of classes. Hope to have it worked out soon.
@Kristinesonja
Pls know that more sections of classes open up at each orientation. If you are looking for a particular class, check often and remember that you may be locked out of changing your schedule on orientation days…look online for those days then check back later.
Agreed. Barnett Honors at UCF has the same kids that go to the Ivy’s, with many earnings full scholarships like our son did. Top notch small program with individual building and dorms. I could not even count how many kids that got into Ivy’s or UVA type schools that ultimately ended up at Barnett UCF. Small size, outstanding outcomes.
