Hey everyone I was just recently deferred from UCF for Fall 2017 and I’m very upset because it was my top choice. Does anyone think I still have a chance?
Residency: Out of State
GPA: 3.78
UW: 3.56
SAT: 1190
ACT: 29
Freshman year classes: 2 honors
Sophomore year classes: 3 honors
Junior year: 2 honors, 1 AP
Senior year: 2 honors, 2 AP
I also took 3 years of a world language, and am in a honors program at my school for history and english.

Extra curriculurs:
Varsity basketball cheer for 3 years, varsity football cheer for 3 years, varsity competition cheer for 1 year. I have been in the club JSA for 2 years and my schools magazine editing club for 2 years also. In addition I have been apart of my towns youth leadership volunteer group for 2 years also.

I applied in Early october and didn’t hear back until 2 weeks ago. I also did the optional essay and questions so I was wondering if anyone thinks I still have a chance of acceptance. Thanks everyone and congrats to who got accepted!

@Going2UCF I’ve never heard of that rule, but I’ve never dug deep on UCF information before. I got both letters and they both were confirmed under financial aid in the online portal so I’m not sure!

Your ACT is stronger than your SAT, other than that I’m not sure why you didn’t get in. You might want to contact them with updates, show interest etc.

Im really stressing out because I also haven’t heard back! I applied early December

Help!

WGPA: 4.1
UGPA: 3.1
SAT: 1070
ACT:20
Community Service: 100
College Credit: 25

So I am taking college classes at a community college. I was Dual Enrolled for the first semester but I failed a math class by getting a D. I am still continuing on with college course though and retaking that math class. My college GPA on my transcript is a 3.0

I’m really nervous about getting in (fall 2017). I applied mid December but they didn’t get my transcript till 2 weeks ago. Do you think I have a shot?

UGPA: 3.0
WPG: 3.4
Act: 30
SSL Hours: 200

Don’t take APs
Freshman: 4 honors
Sophomore: 2 honors
Junior: 3 honors
Senior: 2 honors and 3 period internship at elementary school

Extracurricular activities:
Varsity Track
Soccer (outside of school)
Rotary club
Have a job
Guitar/theater

I also have a 3 period internship senior year. My GPA looks horrible but that’s because I had a rough time freshman year and some events happened at my school. If it means anything, I go to an extremely difficult high school: Wootton High School.

I spent months on the writing prompts to perfect them along with sending in 2 teacher recommendations. Also, when I look at the graph on naviance from past people who applied, there are 5/6 accepted. Including a person with a 3.2/21 act and a 3.6/26 act.

Good luck to everyone! I’m pretty confident I can get in. I got into UNCW and U South Carolina but UCF is my top choice!!!

Your GPA is a little low, but you have nice test scores and ECs. I think you have a pretty good shot! I wouldn’t worry too much about how long it’s taking – it’s a very busy time for Admissions right now, and decisions are coming out more slowly than they did in the fall.

Good luck!

Update: I just got deferred today. I’ll take all the help I can get

I requested my mid year transcript today which had-
English: B
Law: A
Chemistry: A
Statistics: A
3 Period Internship: A

I am also considering asking a Senior year teacher/or my tutor to write me another recommendation letter. Along with that, I am gonna contact an admissions officer.

Do you have any other tips to help me get in??

Also, I hear that UF sends acceptances out in mid February and a good amount of spots open up for UCF because of that.

Hello! I really want to get into UCF, but i’m not sure if I have a chance.
Applied for Fall 2017
Residency: Out of State
GPA: 3.7
SAT: 1010
ACT: 17 (I was unprepared I had just moved here and wasn’t really given a chance)
Extra Curricular:
Babysitting (Entire 10th grade year everyday)
Work (every week)
Community Service with a Military sorority (every week)
Also an early graduate
I’ve also taken honors classes
Maintained As and Bs all throughout my high school career

Thanks!

NYGiants80, sorry to hear you were deferred! I think your stats ARE in the range they are looking for, so I think the reason is simply because you applied a little late, and it seems the state schools are getting more applications than in a normal year. I do think you have a decent shot of getting in, because you’re right, many people will choose UF, FSU, USF etc. Many people apply to all four! I’ll be rooting for you to make it.

ayaKnights, your GPA is very good, but those test scores are quite low for UCF. I don’t honestly know if there’s time to retake the tests, you might want to check the FAQ on their website, or call or email someone from admissions. Good luck!

@Trisherella
Thank you for the thoughtful comments! I’ll keep you posted.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE ELSE

I was deferred yesterday from UCF and emailed the office of admissions asking why I was deffered and to update them on my extra curicular activities. I still have recieved no response, however, today I checked my portal and was sent an acceptance but for SUMMER, can someone tell me the difference please besides it being for summer term? It says I have 30 days to accept or decline the offer to recieve an admission packet. It says that if I decline the offer, I WILL be denied admission to UCF. I am an out of state student and UCF is one of my dream schools. Can someone please help me breakdown the difference and the start dates? Thank You!

PS- I’d highley recommend for those who were deferred to email the admissions office and ask why. Very surreal to have been deferred yesterday at 11pm and offered admission but for summer today at 10 am.

Dwzrd, thanks for describing your experience, hopefully it helps someone else in a similar situation. It may have swayed admissions simply knowing that you were likely to attend. When you ask the “difference,” are you talking finances? I’m sure the dates etc. are on their website.

UCF seems like a fantastic choice, if you can afford it I’d be tempted to take them up on their offer.

Good luck deciding!

@dwzrd1599 I’m not sure what Summer acceptance means, but 1) you were accepted, 2) you start before everyone else, and 3) it seems like they want to get you up to speed with catch up courses before the rest of the Fall admits arrive.

If UCF is one of your dream schools, you should seriously consider the offer.

When do you find out from your other dream schools?

I was deferred today at UCF

Deferred

@kanz1212

What were your scores/GPA/EC?

Hey, may I ask if the email you used to write to them was the one they offer under your admission status on their page?

Yes I did and made sure to include my NID in the letter.
