Yeah, was he flat out rejected? What does the message say?
If you look at last years 2015 acceptance post (about 3-4 pages in) on CC, and go towards the end, lots of parents an students talked about what they did if they were rejected or deferred. Depending on how much research you want to do. I thought a student also said they emailed admissions to find out why so at least they knew the reason. sometimes that helps. But again, I am by no means an expert!! Hopefully someone who knows will post soon. I just have done a lot of reading to help my daughter in the process. And of course, this should be done by the student. Its important they take responsibility and advocate for themselves. My daughter is in charge of everything since its her education. I just try to learn as much as I can. Good Luck. If anything I hope an answer helps him find peace and that his journey will just change directions and usually for the better. All things happen for a reason or we can find meaning. How frustrating to have applied so long ago and still be waiting on a decision. What I’m wondering is whether there will be a lot more decisions coming out beginning early January. I think I read that the majority of FTF applying to UCF for fall '16 will be sending in their applications betw. Sept. and Dec. Perhaps Admissions is waiting for the bulk of applications to be in. This happened to D2 with her in-state college just recently, her decision came out right before the priority deadline for applications and we figured they had pretty much seen everyone by then. Many, many more were admitted earlier in the fall (and most had applied after D2 did).
@FINKELLY @UCFan123 the wording was not “rejected” it was “we regret that we are unable to offer you admission.”
I am an ALUM and I cannot wrap my head around this what so ever. Its not like his grades and scores are so terrible, if they werent going to ACCEPT him, the least they could have done was defer him so he can better his 25 ACT which he is in the process doing (took ACT this past Saturday). After all we continue to donate as an ALUM family…we are mind blown in a negative way. We applied for summer last night and hopefully they will reevaluate him. THIS GETTING INTO COLLEGE THING IS NOT EASY. Best of luck and thank you for responding.
Ok, sorry. I really shouldn’t have assumed thats what they would have put. But I can understand your frustration. I have read of some mistakes. Do you think it was one? And yes, we are going through many of the same things. I will be quite experienced when its my sons turn. It has really made her senior year not so fun and put a little damper on the holidays. Good Luck! Keep us posted.
Has anyone been accepted for summer admission yet?
@mscl516 Some have if you look back at the posts already up on this thread. One right on page 1.
The only thing I can think of is that I was automatically accepted as a Top 10 Knight as I am in the Top 10% of my class 67/680 (barely). Not sure if I would have been accepted otherwise :/. Not sure this helps at all. I am going to Stetson. They have been much more accommodating! UCF did not even an offer a congrats for summer admission…told me they had so many great applicants for fall so summer is my only option…felt like a second class student…no problem but very poor PR.

Also should add that I applied in Mid October and got Accepted before the end of October.
We finally heard from UCF. My daughter was accepted! But I think she is still planning to go to FAU. She applied to UCF on October 15 and received her decision today, January 4, 2016.
Yay! Finally @BAmom1996
Awesome! @BAmom1996 So glad to also hear they are sending out more acceptances. Fingers crossed we hear soon!
Update…DS was deferred! I have to admit, i’m a bit surprised! His stats were good enough for a full tuition scholarship to UA and admittance to FSU but not for UCF?! Crazy!
It stated to submit updated scores/grades. They should be receiving his Dec ACT score soon (went up from a 31 to 32), but I doubt we will even bother submitting anything else.
Update…I have been deferred by UCF
got deferred by UCF
My daughter and everyone that she knows that were still waiting to hear from UCF go the deferred message on Friday January 8th. This is at least 10 kids. It is amazing because not only did she apply in early September and had good stats, she got into better colleges already and was offered partial scholarships! It is too bad for UCF because it was her first choice and this process has soured her on UCF.
Deferred from UCF…
Deferred.
I got deferred
I found out yesterday that I have been deferred.
I am very upset but i’m hoping for the best from here on!
Question: I did poorly on the SAT (1310) that i took in December of 2014, then 6 months later, after studying non-stop, I took the ACT and got a 30.
UCF only has my ACT score, but should I send in my poor SAT score to show that I improved greatly?
Please someone help me with this!!!
Thanks
