Has anyone evacuated UCF over the last several years due to a hurricane? If yes, where did you go? Do you think a prospective student should take into consideration hurricane evacuation when deciding if they want to attend a certain college?

Usually, Orlando is the hurricane evacuation area that everyone on the coast goes to. We’re usually the one w/ all the shelters open and hotels full for those on both coasts and, sometimes, even south florida. The exception was the bizzarro 2004 season when we go womped on, starting w/ Charley. We did not get much in the way of forewarning that it was coming across inland like it did, as it was fully expected to come up he Tampa coast area. In fact, my parents who lived in that area, had been planning to come this way to ride out the storm, but decided to just go inland a few miles and ride it out. By 11am that morning we’d heard it was headed our way … and whoa! it was rockin’ and rollin’ that night here in East Seminole County/Oviedo area. That was an anomolous season, for sure. But there are tons of places folks can stay around here, and I am sure that UCF, just like every other university in Florida, has a hurricane preparedness plan.

Here’s a link to the UCF hurricane preparedness plan, if you are interested.
