UCF Bookstore wrong ISBNs?

I really need some help finding some texts as the UCF Bookstore site has very limited Information;

ENC1101- Writing about writing is this the standard edition? and is the 2010 Everyday Writer ok also?

BSC 2010c-The UCF bookstore also states I need "CAMPBELL BIOLOGY>CUSTOM< BIOLOGY I" with an ISBN of "9781256133780" which cannot be found anywhere on the web, if anyone knows what this text is it would be of great help!

UCF gets custom text books printed from the publishers. The BSC 2010 book through UCF is the first half of the full Campbell text book. It can save you money by purchasing the custom 1/2 text is you don’t plan on taking BSC 2011.

There are many “custom additions” for freshman and sophomore introductory classes. Publishers make deals with the schools to create custom texts as a win-win situation for the publisher and school. The publisher gets to cut down on the resale text book market, and the school gets more revenues for selling more books.

If you can find the full version of the Campbell Biology text book for cheap online, it’s the same as the UCF custom edition (only the cover is different).

As far as the ENC 1101 book, I’m not sure if it’s actually a book at all. It might just be some supplemental workbook for your composition class. I didn’t take English Comp I at UCF, so I can’t say for sure or not.

Thank you for your reply!
The Bio 2010 class states under the book store link that both the full Campbell Ninth edition and the “Custom” item are required is that not so?
As or ENC1101 is titled " WRITING ABOUT WRITING W/ EVRYDAY WRTR" but the ISBN doesn’t register on any searches, I’m beginning to believe it’s two independent books?

The bookstore will say it is “required” however it doesn’t mean you can’t get an older edition. For Campbell Biology DEFINITELY get one edition older because it should be much cheaper. Tons of people have that textbook and therefore there will be tons of books going for cheap ($30-40).

You could also wait until class starts sometimes to see if you really need the textbook.

With BSC 2010 you will also need to purchase a Lab manual, which is created by the professor of the class (most likely Pamela Thomas).

Don’t buy the books yet… wait till the first day of class and see what books you need and go from there. You won’t be using the Bio book all that much anyways. That is, if you’re taking prof thomas.

Who are you taking for English?

I went ahead and got the Bio book as it is one of the subjects I am very interested in. For English my prof is Wolcott
