I will apply to UCF for fall 2015. I will study Mechanical Engineering. Can someone tell me if the engineering is good? Is it worth to attend UCF?
UCF engineering is fairly well respected (especially in Florida). It’s the second best public university program in the state (behind UF but a bit ahead of USF).
@Gator88NE thanks for answering. Can you tell me around the USA?
Few hiring managers are familiar with schools outside of their part of the country (with the exception of the elite engineering schools, like MIT, etc.). So, a manager in California can’t really tell the difference between USF,UCF, or Eastern Michigan.
All of that doesn’t matter, as long as you go to an ABET accredited school (like UCF) and can show that you have the required skills/talents (which is one reason internships/co-ops are so important).
Engineering isn’t as sensitive to “prestige” as other fields.
Here’s a recent CNN article that mentions UCF (engineering). It gives you an idea of some the projects being worked on by mechanical engineers at UCF.

@Gator88NE, Does UCF have internships?
Do you know which internships they have?
UCF students apply for internships at private companies. As an example, two popular companies (for engineering students) are Disney and Lockheed Martin.

As a student you would apply for internships with companies all over the US (including a bunch in Orlando) and would be competing against students from other schools.
Another option, would be working a Co-op.

The standard co-op starts last for three semesters, where you go to school for a semester, then co-op, then school, co-op, school, co-op and finally school for your last semester and graduation. Co-ops add 1 year to the length of time it takes to graduate and is usually spent at the same company.
Thank you @Gator88NE. I definitely want to work for Boeing or take an internship there.
