Hello everyone! I am new to this whole college admission process. My son is a high school senior and applied for admission in the Fall of 2020 to UCF. He submitted his application on October 1. His transcripts were sent electronically from his high school on October 4, October 10, and again on October 15 because the UCF site still said “waiting for official transcript”. I called admissions on October 22 and they said the transcripts were received (not sure when). Finally on Saturday morning, UCF website updated to show transcripts received. Now what?
A friend of mine has a senior that submitted on October 7 and was accepted on October 16. Why do some applications process faster? Both kids are similar on test scores and GPA.
My son has 31 ACT, 1350 SAT, 10 AP classes, honors classes his whole life, 500+ community service hours, etc. 4.2 GPA.
If anyone has experience, please let me know. I know I need to have patience!!!
not sure about why some applications take longer to process, but I would say your S definitely looks like a great applicant from his stats, so hold on and I feel pretty confident that he will get his acceptance soon- also keep checking portal because my D never received an email letting her know that a decision was posted, so she wouldn’t have found out about her acceptance when she did if she hadn’t kept checking portal every day. Her letter of acceptance took another week to arrive.
UCF has historically taken longer as the fall progresses with their rolling admissions. Seems like every year that kids who get all the stuff submitted in September find out in a few days while those who submit in October might take a lot longer. Not making excuses, just relaying an observation. That’s what happened two years ago with my daughter and with my son this year. Also, check the portal as was suggested by others.
If I as a betting man, I would say your kid gets in, btw.
my son applied Sept 11, nothing was received until October 16th. Still waiting for a decision but also wondering in the admission status page is It supposed to say “An initial official transcript has been received. If you are offered admission and choose to enroll at UCF, please request your high school send us an official final transcript after high school graduation to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, P. O. Box 160111, Orlando, FL 32816-0111, when available.” When your transcript is submitted? Also, the SAT is underneath that, is that the way It is supposed to be? If so do I just have to wait for a decision.
Thank you
That is what my son’s page looks like. But, in the first box, it says an official transcript has been received - exactly what you wrote. Right below that in another box, it lists his high school again and says:
WAITING FOR AN OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT
Please request that an official transcript be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, P. O. Box 160111, Orlando, FL 32816-0111.
Please allow 3-7 business days processing time for electronic transcript receipt and up to 14 business days (during peak processing time) for paper transcripts.
Then, below that, it says, Advanced Placement - and has the same request for transcript. If you scroll down a bit, it has all his SAT, ACT, and AP scores so I know they aren’t waiting for the AP scores.
I have called UCF admissions and they state they have the transcript and it is in review…
