My S applied to the Honors College about 2 weeks ago and just received a letter thanking him for his application and that he would be informed of his admission status on before April 15th, 2009. Also it mentions that if he is interested in the Honors College housing, that assignments are in Flagler Hall, the Honors residence hall.

Two questions: 1) Does the the letter basically mean he has been "deferred" for admission into the Honors College (has anyone gotten a definite answer yet)?
and 2) Have they changed the Honors housing from the Towers to Flagler Hall?

That is very strange. Flagler Hall is in Libra. On the UCF honors housing website they are still claiming Tower 3 for the Honors Housing. You should have your son call and check what this email is all about. It does sound like he is defered from Honors though, but check this out too.

I've seen what the website says, I guess that's what has me so confused about the Flagler housing thing in this letter. So has anyone received an acceptance letter that says the housing is in the Towers for Fall 2009??

My s thinks they made honors housing in both Towers and Flagler because some kids don't want to pay for an 11 month contract. At least he says he knows of a lot of kids in flagler this year, as well as Towers 3.

Flager is not an honors dorm this year, and I haven't heard of it being one next year. In fact, most of the honors kids living in the Libra community are in Sumter Hall. But apparently by accident.

My son was accepted and invited to apply to the Honors College. His letter also mentioned Flagler Hall as the freshman honors housing... I'm going to have my son call the housing office and the Honors College to find out what the real deal is...

UPDATE on housing: Received this email today:

Dear Honors Applicant,

You were recently sent a letter informing you of our intention to make a decision on your Burnett Honors College application no later than April 15, 2009. This letter also erroneously made reference to the Honors Living-Learning Community in Flagler Hall. The Honors Living-Learning Community has been moved to Tower III at Knight's Plaza. Students who are interested in living in Honors Housing in Tower III should not wait to hear a final decision from The Burnett Honors College before applying for housing in The Towers online at UCF Housing and Residence Life. We apologize for the confusion. Questions about Honors Housing should be directed to Brandy Christman at bchristm@mail.ucf.edu or . Please do not hesitate to contact me if you should have any additional questions or concerns.

Wow, if they mentioned Flagler as Honor's housing they must have pulled that letter out of the wayback machine! Flagler was indeed Honor's housing when my D began her frosh year at UCF in fall 2005, that is where she stayed. Wasn't last fall the first year they moved it to the Towers?
