Is UCF's Honors college admission based on rolling like the regular one? So the later I apply, the less chance I have to get in? Or do they pool the admissions and then choose? Or what else?

Although they have a rolling admission process, everyone that applies before the March 31 deadline receives full consideration.

If you get accepted, then those who return their acceptance forms first reserve their seats in the college (since more students are admitted than they have enough room for), and those who return their forms towards the end of April may have to be placed on a waiting list (“admitted students are not considered enrolled in The Burnett Honors College until they have reserved their seat AND received confirmation”).

Hope this helps!

So if I apply in March, will it disadvantage me as compared to if I applied now?

the later you apply, the lower your chances are unless you have amazing stats. they only have 500 spots for freshmen each year and probably accept somewhere slightly over that amount, its very competitive. in my incoming honors class for 2009, the average SAT was 1370. It is rolling admission so if they somehow get all the best qualified students to apply early, then itll be full and over pretty early, so apply ASAP.

If you get into the Honors college, is the tuition more?

Tuition is exactly the same in the honors college. The only thing is that in order to claim your spot once youve been accepted, you have to pay a one time fee to the honors congress, it was about $125-150 but i cant remember exactly. this covers a lot of things the honors college does for its students like free breakfast every monday at the burnett honors college building. like i said though, tuition is the same. you get more bang for your buck though because of the smaller class sizes and first priority when it comes to making your schedule. some of my friends were stressing to pick classes that were still open for spring in october and november while i had already chosen my spring classes waaaayy back in june during the honors orientation.

Great, thank you!!!

If a student is selected for honors, does he have to apply for Towers housing or can he go for a less expensive one like Lake Claire?

If you are chosen for honors, you do not have to live in Honors housing. By no means should that thought detour you if you have the opportunity to be in Honors. My s is a junior in the program, and it has been a great experience for him. :)

I don’t know if I should put this on a new thread, but has anyone got a reply form from the Honors college yet? I want to reserve my spot, and I’m worried it got lost in the mail and I won’t get it until its too late. But maybe it hasn’t been sent out yet.

I just looked up that at the end of March they mail out the reply forms at one time. I was freaking out, too, until I looked it up. =D

can you tell me if you think i have a chance of getting into burnett? I wasn’t recommended for the program or at least I dont believe so bc my act is kind of low and so i just happened upon the program (im from ohio and therefore everything that deals with the school i’ve learned I find out the hard way bc we’re so far away) mid february and have been working furiously on it ever since and FINALLY sent it in today.
but here are my stats:

GPA: unweighted 3.91
ACT: 27
EC’s a million, im involved in so many things and am the Pres. of NHS and Key Club and am probably the most involved student in my class.
Class Rank: 26/403 a little over 10%
I’ve taken two AP’s and 10 honors classes (pretty much everything my school offers)
Comm Service: over 500 hours
Employed at a Dentist’s Office as a receptionist

I included resume, letters of rec., personal essays, creative work, basically everything i possbily could to put myself in a good light that doesn’t portray the “i’m a procrastinator” label
but, what do you think? honestly, do i have a chance?
thanks…

ohhh and btw I am also going to be majoring in Event Mgmt. Do you think that would add any leniancy? Because not too many hospitality kids are in it?
