D has been admitted to UCF Honors and just admitted to FSU. Don't know about Honors yet though. She wants to be a Math Major. Any advice on how to choose between the two schools. We are instate, but have not visited either campus yet. Plan to do that next week during spring break.

well i would first do some research on the programs and then whatever your daughter feels more comfortable with the campus…

I got accepted to both UF and FSU as well and the tour made all the difference for me. I not only wanted a good academic program but i needed an atmosphere i could be comfortable in and that was FSU for me.

The Department of Mathematics page at Florida State: [Florida State University - Department of Mathematics](http://www.math.fsu.edu/)

Historically FSU is much stronger at math (and virtually everything else) than UCF, which is a regional university geared to integrating students from Orlando area supporting community colleges.

In terms of Arts and Sciences, where the Math Dept is located, Florida State has the oldest chapter of Phi Beta Kappa in Florida while UCF does not even have a chapter to date.

Thanks for your reply. I considered PMing you, Parent2Noles, as I see you are very active with the FSU threads. Great information. I am hoping that a visit to the campus will really seal the deal for her. I hear it is a beautiful place to be.

As an FSU alumnus (and father of graduate and near graduate 'Noles) I’m glad to help. :)
