UCF: Mechanical Eng

How good of a program is UCF’s M.E. and roughly what is the ROI. In order words, does a degree hold value in employment sectors.

There isn’t much in the way of solid ROI numbers, but you can check out Payscale, and search for UCF and ME.

In general, UCF has a large, well thought of engineering school. It’s fairly well recruited (due to it’s size on location) and UCF ME’s do as well as the average ME graduate.

Thanks. How is the same in terms of UF?

As compared to UCF? UF is more selective (in terms of GPA/Test scores/EC’s) and has more resources. This leads to a better faculty to student ratio, better job career services, and more clubs/design projects.

In terms of outcomes, UF’s engineers start off at about the same pay (or slightly higher) as UCF grad, and UF grads only have a slightly higher employment rate (the employment rate is good at both schools). They do tend to find employment out of state, more often than an UCF grad, as UF is more highly recruited by OOS companies.

Still, with that being said, some folks do choose UCF over UF. Either because they prefer Orlando over Gainesville, and/or due to the Merit scholarships offered at UCF.

Thanks so much. I appreciate your time.

If you got accepted to UF Engineering, you could probably get a scholarship or tuition reduction from UCF.

If you plan to leave the state, UF has an edge, as Gator88 mentions.
