@nwuhockey Hey did you get accepted? If you don’t mind me asking…

@smdanser
Not yet, my current status is still deferred.

@smdanser

Not yet. Just sent my 1st Semester grades which turned out to be a 3.2. Also have sent some letters of recommendation in. UCF is my top choice and Im waiting for them to accept before I make a decision but sadly its coming up on a deadline in which ill need to choose. Stetson has offered me a crazy amount of money and I have until like Mid February to make my decision. So hopefully UCF decides soon. If I get denied Ill be sad but there are alot of other options for me. Ive been accepted to Florida Atlantic, Florida Internation, Stetson, Florida Gulf Coast, Indiana State, Georgia Southern, and Kennesaw State. If I get denied I may just stay home and go to Kennesaw State for a year or 2 then transfer but Ill be applying to alot more then UCF. But we will see. Hopefully it will be soon. Im a terrible test taker and thats why i got deferred. My test scores were crap. My GPA is average(3.0). Ill be amazed if I get in but if I dont its not that big of a deal.

Congratulations to all accepted!!!

Deferred Fall 2014
ACT: 23
SAT: 1610 Reading 520 Math 560 Writing 530

Chance me please!!! I am so worried. UCF is the only school I want to go to. I am thinking it’s not looking too promising for me.

Hello All, Is this the message you received before an admission decision was rendered or did the message change to all required documents received?

“If required documents (transcripts, test scores, etc.) have been submitted, your application is currently being reviewed by our admission committee for the Fall 2014 term…” My child has contacted the school twice and they respond back with the same message above. This is the #1 choice so very excited to receive results. Thank you.

Hey guys

I think I have a 3.4 recalculated but I’m not 100% sure…
I got a 1610 on the SAT and didn’t take the ACT
I have around 100 community service hours
Please anyone chance me!!!
Also, should I turn in another recommendation letter or is one enough??
Thanksss

Your SAT is the issue. 1610 is not a good score by any means, and is probably what is keeping you out. Also, you should submit a total of 3 letters or more.

@Tombuens I had the same SAT score when I applied and a 23 for the ACT. Although my GPA is higher than yours, I got accepted a few weeks after being deferred. I didn’t even get a chance to send in anything lol

Status:Deferred for Fall 2014
SAT:1690
ACT:24
GPA:3.8

Emjay3-No need for him/her to send letters. I know UCF hardly even glances at the letters of Rec, it’s hardly taken into consideration. All the matters if test scores and GPA, though from what I’ve seen, GPA is becoming more important. Based on what I’ve been hearing around here, a high test scores doesn’t say anything about a students motivation and dedication. Grades tell you that. So while a student can have a high test score, if their grades are average, that’s a better indication of how they’ll do in college.

I was deferred for summer 2014;
SAT: 1640
ACT: 25 originally, resubmitted 27
Weighted GPA: 3.5 original, resubmitted: 3.7
Some EC’s, probably 95% honors classes.

it can happen! I was also deferred and later accepted. I applied in oct… and was deferred then admitted in January. I was so happy. I called a lot, asked good questions, showed interest and didn’t give up. I had a 3.5 and 23 act

Hey guys im still deferred and its already late april… I emailed someone yesterday to try to see if there was anything I could do to improve my chances but havent heard back… should I be worried??
thankss to everyone that replied to my other comment!!!

I was deferred and I have a 3.5 unweighted, a 3.8 as UCF weights it. I’ve taken 4 AP classes, and 2 Duel Enrollment classes. I am part of almost all the honors societies at my school. I am also part of almost every club with leadership roles. I play soccer and have volunteered over 200 hours. However, I have a 23 ACT and my SAT score sections are all in the 500s. I’ve never done anything to get me in trouble at school or outside of school. I’m guessing the test scores are what did me in.

- I didn’t do well 1st semester of my senior year, but if I send in letters of recommendation and updated test scores will I have a chance? Also Im capable of getting great grades 2nd semester but I had to pick up 2 jobs to help support my mom in October which is a reason my grades fell. Im quitting one after the holidays so ill have more time.

I was deferred for fall 2014;
ACT: 30
Weighted GPA: 3.7
good EC’s and both my siblings as well as my brother-in-law attended
what do I do?

@TMF123 @mparrilla17 . If you were deferred, call them and ask why they chose to deffer you rather than accept you. In some cases, like in mine, a mistake has been made somewhere in your application. When mine was corrected I was accepted. They might also tell you that they want you to send in transcripts from this past semester to boost your GPA. It certainly would not be a bad idea to send in a couple of recommendation letters and retake ACT/SAT and hope for a higher score.

Call them and they will tell you what they need from you personally.
