Who all is transferring to UCF in the summer or fall? My 1st semester will be this summer and I'm excited!....especially being that I have been at a community college the 1st two years.

I am. I got accept for summer A, but I have not yet decided on whether I’m attending or not though.

what are your other options?

I’m still waiting…applied for summer B. Is there really a 4 week turnaround on decision or are they delaying them like they are for the freshman?

I got accepted into USF and UCF, but still waiting on UF.

@julius305
I got the acceptance notice 2 weeks after I applied. You should try to e-mail them and ask if you think it’s taking too long.

Well UCF still hasn’t accepted me, but I just got into UF. I’ll be withdrawing my application at UCF tomorrow to make room for other transfers and freshman…best of luck to all of you!

@ Julius , How nice of you. I wish other people in your situation would do the same except for the fall/summer undergrad. terms lol .

How do you withdraw your app at a school? Just call and let them know you won’t be attending?

I will be attending in the Fall as a Transfer Student studying Forensic Science.

Ughh I’m hoping to get in for the fall! I’d even take summer, but I’m still waiting to hear from them. If you don’t mind me asking, what were your stats.?

I have a 4.0 transfer GPA (but that’s only from one semester of college), but I have 33 AP credits therefore will be classified as a junior at the end of the semester (credit-wise). I have a 1190 SAT (1790 with writing) and a 25 ACT (crappy test scores, I know…) but I have a pretty good high school GPA. I’m “guestimating” this, because I don’t remember my actual high school GPA, but it was something like a 4.5 weighted and a 3.8 unweighted. Also, I graduated in the top 6% or 7% of my class. But do you think I’ll get in…?? Like I’m really freaking out about this!!!

Your stats are amazing! I have a 3.1 GPA but I’m transferring in with my AA. You should definitely get in.

Thanks Brandon! I’m really hoping so. I was already accepted into the BFA Acting program, but I don’t know what I’m going to do if I don’t get into the university itself–because that means I can’t transfer into the program. It’s just making me really nervous…

About how long did it take UCF to get back to you after you applied? I know last year when I applied it only took about two weeks for a response, so I’m hoping to hear back from them soon.

Anyways, congrats on your acceptance!

Thanks! Congrats on your program acceptance. I applied in December and heard from them earlier this month. I believe you’ll get in. Especially knowing that you got accepted into your program. I’m not sure if it matters if you apply for summer or fall since UCF has rolling admissions. Where are you transferring from?

I applied to ucf as an transfer student receiving my AA spring. I applied january 19th and I’m still waiting for a response.

I’m transferring from FSU. I do enjoy the school, however I DO NOT enjoy the BA Theatre program which I am currently in. They cater so much to their BFA’s and tend to treat the BA students like “leftovers” who weren’t “good enough” to get into the BFA program. Plus there just aren’t that many performance opportunities available to us in comparison to the BFA’s. Needless to say, I jumped on the transfer process as soon as I found out I was accepted into UCF’s BFA Acting program. I actually got into their program last year as well, but was stupid and chose the BA program at FSU instead…

Sorry–RANT.

Anyways, I still haven’t heard from UCF regarding my application status and it’s driving me crazy! I just feel like I’m stuck in limbo. But hopefully I’ll be there next semester, and maybe even see you around campus!

Really? I heard FSU had a pretty good arts/theatre program. I don’t know the difference between a BF and BFA but I’m sorry to hear that. You should call UCF and find out what’s going on.

Do you have a facebook?

FSU does have a good arts/theatre program, if you’re in the BFA program.

Regarding acting, basically the difference is the BFA program is more of a conservatory style training; about 60-90% of all your classes are theatre-related, and you take courses such as movement, acting 1-4, scene study, etc. However, these classes are closed to BA majors. So even if you want to be an actor in the BA program, you’re not able to get the training and you just don’t have as many performance opportunities, as a majority of the cast of productions will be BFA students.

The BA program just means you’ll receive a general degree in theatre; you get a little taste of everything–tech, design, performance (they don’t even call it ‘acting’ in the BA program), etc. but not much elaborate training in any area. It’s an essentially useless degree unless you’re going to double major (ie: Theatre & Education–then you can teach theatre).

Also, the facilities are old and run down, and there’s no idea of when or if they’ll be renovated. Of course that’s not the School of Theatre’s fault, as Florida’s government doesn’t fund or give money to any of the arts programs. However, UCF has brand new performing arts facilities & they’re beautiful! I saw them when I auditioned.

Another thing to keep in mind is that the reputation of a school, or a program at a school, is always going to be about ten years behind. FSU’s School of Theatre has established a reputation for itself over the years, but it’s not necessarily up to par with how they currently are running things. Also, UCF is still a baby school and therefore their program is not yet as well known, but still definitely one of the best in the state. They have great networking opportunities available as well, with the Orlando Rep, Orlando Shakespeare, and Disney all nearby. There’s absolutely nothing like that near FSU. Honestly, the only big things in Tallahassee are just FSU, FAMU, and the Capitol.

Sorry, that was another really long rant, but maybe this information could be helpful to someone (or maybe not…).

Oh! And yes, of course I have a facebook! haha.

lol it’s all good. We get smarter by learning new info each day. haha…add me on FB! [Welcome to Facebook - Log In, Sign Up or Learn More](<a href=“Facebook - log in or sign up”>Facebook - log in or sign up)

I applied early February for Fall 2011 to UCF…I’m still waiting…I graduate with my AA this summer…How long does it usually take for a response?

I applied back in Feb too; I got admitted 2 weeks after I send in everything.
