Since I got accepted to UCF, and I am an out-of-state student, I'm looking at paying about $32,000 a year to attend. But I was wondering - If I attend for a full year, and I get a Florida License, I register for voting, etc. will I be reclassified as an in-state resident? Keeping in mind that I'll be living ON campus, not off.

I've been on several websites that talk about it, but I can't seem to figure it out.
Yeah, I'd reclassify so that I get the in-state tuition because it's cheaper, but I'd also be doing it because that's where I PLAN to be well beyond college anyway. Right?

So is there anyway I could be reclassified after my freshman year?
Has anybody that has attended UCF as an out-of-state student dealt with this before?

I’m not sure if you’ve read this:
[Residency Reclassification Application and Affidavit - University of Central Florida Registrar’s Office](http://registrar.sdes.ucf.edu/forms/residency_reclassification/)

It seems as if you’d be classified as a Florida Resident for Tuition Purposes. If you’re still dependent on someone out of state that prevents you from being considered a Florida resident. Also, since you’re living on campus you’re not renting or owning a place of your own. I believe you’d have to wait to full establish residency in Florida after you move off campus.

Here’s a wikihow:
http://m.wikihow.com/Become-a-Florida-Resident

Would I really need to live off campus though? Because I’d rather be living on it so that I’m involved with everything that’s happening. If I live off of it, I’ll probably only be there when I have my classes, and leave right after.

If I’m filing my own taxes and everything, instead of staying on my parents - that would make me independent, right? Would that boost my chances of being reclassified?

–

My dad’s looking into that site up there ^^ and he’s trying to get in touch with somebody over there to talk about it. But if anybody’s been in the same situation before, it’d help!

I’ve read through a couple articles and it seems that even moving off campus won’t be sufficient because you’re still there for your school. The main thing that Florda wants to be assured of is that you won’t leave after you get you’re degree. I don’t know. I’ve never been in this position (obviously), but definitely have your dad keep trying to get in touch with someone.

I believe filing your taxes as independent would help. Most of the cases I’ve read dealt with people still being claimed on their parents.
