I am very imtimidated going into engineering but it is something that interests me. I am very worried for the “weed out” courses that are at each school. I heard Calc 1 at UCF has about 300 people per class and there isnt much info on the pass rate but I heard it is also considered a weed out course. I do not mind taking a hard major but I do not know which school has a higher pass/grad rate for engineering. I understand they will be hard but I am very worried that certain classes will just try to fail everyone.
Thanks!
Are you asking about comparing UCF to FIT (Florida Institute of Technology)? Both schools will be about the same in rigor. Classes at FIT will be smaller, but every Calc 1 class will be fairly large at either school.
Don’t stress out over Calc 1. Take the class, and be prepared to do the homework and study for the exams. I’m sure you’ll do fine. If not, then you know engineering may not be for you. However, it’s better to try (if it’s what you’re interested in) and fail, than always wonder if it’s something you should have done…no regrets!
Good Luck!
Thank you! I am just very worried about the weed out courses, but if I dont try ill never know!
