UCF vs. FSU

Help! I got an email last night from FSU that I have to make a decision by the 19th to accept their offer or not. I was accepted to the summer term, and I didn't get to visit the campus, but it's too late now..I wanted to talk to my guidance counselor or my BRACE advisor but neither were at school -_-
I kinda visited UCF in a way...I went to my cousin's graduation and I thought it was really pretty, the parts I saw. And a lot of my friends say that they are going there so I think it would probably be easier for me to network and get help. Plus I read on other forums and stuff that it's a bigger city so there's more to do and more jobs around (I'll definitely need one.)

On the other hand, those same forums said it's a redneck school? A friend of mine warned me that its a little racist..does anyone know? a couple people said FSU gives a better education..but I just don't know.

It doesn't help that I don't even know what I want to major in or study. I know I want some career in medicine but I don't know what. Not planning on anything involving med school...rather not start a new job in debt. I know for sure as a second, part-time job, I want to do massage therapy, if that helps.

I'll greatly appreciate your response!

Is that the program where you only take classes in the summer and the fall, or a pre-Fall summer session where you get to know the campus and your classmates before everyone else? The second type of summer session is actually cool, it gives you a headstart compared to others. FSU has better funding than UCF. UCF is huge and more commuter. But UCF is strong in the sciences -not stronger than FSU but strong so it’s not a bad choice.
It’s really a matter of preference.
However you shouldn’t worry about having nothing to do on the FSU campus… :D

Is there any way you can go and visit Tallahassee this weekend? Perhaps you can call the admission representative who signed your letter of admission and ask if you can have a couple more days because you’d like to visit the school and 1 week isn’t enough turn around time to arrange that, and when is the next overnight planned? :)

I think it’s the second. They said that I could start in the summer and continue in fall as a continuing student.

What do you mean by better funding? More scholarships?

As simple as that seems, I never thought to do that, haha. I’m going to reply to the email right now.

I know that FSU has a great medical program. Also I have many friends at FSU and I’ve visited before; it’s not a redneck school and it didn’t seem racist when I stayed for a few days. UCF has a good science program (like stated above) so it’s not a bad choice either. UCF does have more to do since it’s in Orlando but FSU is the same. FSU has a lot of activities too so I so I doubt you’ll be bored. It really just depends on which school “speaks” to you (but since you haven’t visited go to their website and take an online tour).

You can’t go wrong with either choice. ;)

UCF is a very diverse campus, I wouldn’t describe it as a redneck school.

You can take my word, as someone that “dislikes” FSU, it does have a pretty campus. ;)

Good Luck!

OP: by funding, I mean how much money the State funnels into it. FSU is sort of flagship whereas UCF is considered regional, even though its standing has grown a lot. So FSU is better funded (has more money for facilities, courses, etc).
