I got waitlisted I really want to go here.
But my stats are:
Weighted: 5.1
Unweighted: 3.1
SAT: 1130
Extracurriculars:
HOSA-
member for 4 years, won awards at the regional level, and I was historian last year and VP this year
NHS-
Member for 3 years
SWAT-
member for 2 years, President this year
SGA-
Member for this year
I also teach 3-5-year-old kids at my church every Sunday and have planned multiple events for over 300 people.
I have won 2 presidential volunteer service awards for the highest tier.
I am also a varsity swimmer and coach’s assistant.
Anyways I know my SAT is really low but I feel as if I have done so many extracurriculars and the kids that got in at my school barely come to school which is really annoying.
Waitlist is not ranked- so if they need people it’s really like a lottery. UCF puts a lot of importance on Rigor, GPA, and SAT/ACT- it does not care as much about ECs. UCF also recalculates GPA- only core classes and foreign language. I am curious, how do you go from a 3.1 uw to a 5.1w? How many bump up points do you get for your weighted classes?
Accepting waitlist means your chances are as good as everyone else. Good luck!
I called admissions yesterday and they told me that they don’t randomly pull students. Also, I got have a higher weighted GPA cause I took all honors and AP. I took 8 AP classes but I did not get all A’s. I have a lot of B’s and 4 C’s. Thanks!
They just said that they reevaluate each applicant that was put on the waitlist and see what they have to offer. I sure my weighted GPA is still good enough to get in probably even a bit better. Also, they said they only look at weighted for admissions purposes and unweighted for financial aid.
Search UCF CDS- it takes you to their Institutional knowledge management page. Lots of great information on there. Under the reports tab is the Common Data Set (CDS).
Thanks for the help! Also, do you think I should write a letter of continued interest? I heard other people doing and being successful. I’m not sure though. Also if I do decide to send it, who do you think I should send it to. I forgot to mention that I got into USF but I really don’t want to go there lol.
I doubt if all summer spaces are full, because UCF’s deadline for accepted students to commit is May 1. So between now and then, there will be a few stragglers committing and then whatever is left will open up for some school term.
Most of the few waitlist acceptances I’ve seen here have been for Summer 2020 or Spring 2021.
I don’t think I’ve seen any for Fall 2020 – but of course, that doesn’t mean there haven’t been any.
Just an update, we worked with my daughter’s high school and UCF and she has accepted her summer offer of admissions and we put a deposit down. Today we gave to go back into the portal and see what ‘s next. Go Knights!
