UChic students look down on football players?

UChicago has a football team?

Very funny! (@ truth123)

Imagine this fun twist: UChicago students actually attending athletic events…
maybe even wearing UChicago gear with pride!

(to: jprtaco) Are you a recruited athlete? Are you going for an overnight visit?

Yes, football & yes…Did you get in EA?

My son got his Likely Letter yesterday! Keep us posted on your visit!

@getmoreveggies - may I ask a few specific questions?
(If you prefer, please feel free to pm me with any information you can provide)

How many recruits visited during the weekend your son visited?

How many of those recruits were in town with their parents? How many alone?

Did your son know he was getting a likely letter when he left on Saturday?

If not, how and when did he learn he was getting a LL?

Did they ask for a verbal commitment from him? If so, when?

What did they say to him on Saturday before he left?

Many thanks.

Heard there are 5 official recruiting weekends, 8-15 players per weekend.
Maybe 3 recruits were there without their parents.
Every player met individually with the head coach, not sure what was said to each.
My son was told he was a top recruit and if UofC was his first choice and he was ready to commit then his App would get walked to Admissions that week.

We went home and discussed options, my son called to commit Tues then coach called us that night to say Admissions liked his App and we should see Likely Letter in his UofC Acct online within 24 hrs. My son applied EA per coach’s request but was deferred; we were told all recruits are deferred because they won’t support a recruit through Admissions until after their official visit.

The process won’t be exactly the same for every recruit, some of the timeline depends on your position and where you fall on their depth chart. For example, if you are the #3 Tight End on their depth chart then they might string you along while they wait to hear from #1 and #2.
