So who's applying to Chicago?

I am!

I'm sure the transfer applicant pool for UChicago is going to increase tremendously from years past.

what makes you say that openingdoors?

me, i personally dont like their essays.. but thats just me..

why dont ya'll post ur stats lol It makes it much more interesting =) rather than just reading "me"

um, im thinking about it, but the competition seems fierce, so maybe not...lol

Just a big time hunch.

Wow... tough competition

Looking at other people's stats in CC is never good for your ego.

Current Institution: UC San Diego
Current Major: Mathematics/ Economics double major

Applying for: Applied Math and maybe a minor in econ or physics

HS GPA: UW:3.72 W: 4.1-4.3 (no clue)
ACT: 32
Predicted Fall Quarter GPA: 3.75-4.0 (16 units)
College EC: not much. I just write Japanese short stories and haiku for fun.

Rec: ummm...too soon to make any speculation.

Does anyone know if colleges look down on a recommendation with bad grammar? I'm probably going to ask one from my Math professors but he doesn't really speak English.

Oh and good Luck to everyone else.

^ I think they'll understand; it's hard to get recs at a big school.

Has anyone started the essay? I think I'm doing the Borges y yo

I think I might be applying. I'm currently attending UW-Madison...

Expected UW semester GPA: 3.875-4.0
HS GPA (2.9UW/3.8W)...I know...these might be my downfall
ACT 34
No idea about essays and recs, but my essays are the reason for my high grades right now and I'm definitely not overexterting myself...

hey good luck to you guys and girls. I would love to attend Uchicago but I'm coming from a CC so I'm holding off to apply until grad/professional school. wish me luck for 3 years down the road or so.

Bump... thought we should have a bit of solidarity

EA anyone?

I've decided to apply EA probably

College: 4 year public no-name school

GPA: 3.91 with fairly rigorous courseload 18-19 hours, Calc 1+2, honors courses and a 400 level history course this spring

EC: President of Pre-law club, VP of comm. BLaw society, one of the principal writers for the college of business magazine, Alternative spring break committee 2008, internship at Merrill Lynch over last summer, founding member of my schools chapter of STAND(students against genocide in Darfur) couple other things

SAT: my original from HS is really average b/c I didn't care but I'm retaking an am shooting for at least 1400/2200 but hopefully in the 2300 range depending on how much time I have to study.

Essays: hopefully good, I think I have a somewhat creative and unique idea that expresses my interests. I've only wrote it in my head so far though lol

Recommendations: both excellent I hope, one of my professors told me I could write it myself if I want, even though I won't lol.

my HS record is my only weak point(I think) I had a 3.0 and did nothing out of the ordinary but JV football. I think I have a good story to go along with how I transformed and am passionate about academics-- rather than in HS when I probably only studied a total of 3 hours
