Dude, I wasn't trying to start a rumor that they were late on sending decisions out. I just thought it was interesting that they would tell my dad when decisions are coming out when they already have on their website April 21st (kinda late in the month). If they ARE a couple days late, it's no big deal.

so, are they coming out the 21st, or a few days later? i'm confused.

IssacDelarge i sent you a PM

THanks man, I just got it. Great stats btw.

where does it say anything about the 21st on the website? i can't find it but i'm probably looking in the wrong place. it would be great to know a solid date so i can stop checking my email compulsively.

hey stone, where on uncommonapp website? i'm blind as hell so it's not surprising i can't find it.

I remember seeing April 21st somewhere...may be it was some other school.

Just wondering, I feel the majority of people on here applied ED at U Chicago. Did anyone apply RD here?

Hey everyone...My admission decision is up, don't know about the rest of you...Good luck to you all...I was denied, so hopefully you'll have better luck...take care

The Committee on Admissions has carefully reviewed your Early Alternative application to the University of Chicago. After much consideration, the Committee has decided to defer a final review of your application to the Regular Notification competition. We simply believe that more information concerning the applicant pool is needed for us to make a final decision.

The Committee will again consider your application in a few weeks and send you its decision by mid May. If admitted, you will then have until June 2, 2008 to respond to our offer.

I've been accepted! I just got the e-mail today. Amazing. I had no idea what my chances were, but I'm really excited.

I've been reading this thread a bit... can anyone help me understand UChicago's financial aid system? $50,000/yr is obviously pretty steep, but I'm really committed to going to the best university I can (I've been accepted to UW-Madison and UChicago so far). I'm pretty much dirt poor, so am I just going to end up getting a shoddy federal check and then having to take out massive loans? Their website didn't seem very clear about the real $$ shakedown.

I'm reading about their core curriculum, and it's so exciting. I can't wait to go somewhere where I'll be really learning full-time.

Accepted!

I'm sorry to hear that stewart.

Rejected. The first of many, I'm sure. I wonder if it was due to a passive deficiency, such as a lack of research or a rec from a professor in my major, or if it was due to a particular negative, like being elderly or from the hated community college system. There is nothing more I could have accomplished, coming from my situation, in terms of grades, recommendations, SAT scores, or essays. I guess they really just had no interest in me. Sigh.

Rejected. My situation is the same as Aneece's--I have a 4.0 and took fairly standard courses. There's not much I could have changed about my high school background, and I did the most I could last semester; on a scale of 1-10 I'd rate last semester a 9.7.

However, I at least feel better in knowing that it's most likely due to Chicago's dramatically reduced transfer rates, which were more than halved in 2007.

Rejected too. But I'd rather be surprised if I got in because I didn't resend my exam scores (A-levels), HS transcript, no interview, etc. Congrats to those who have been accepted =)

Congrats to the accepted. The rejected shouldn't feel too devastated, the acceptance rate was probably in single digits.

I got deferred...

Dear caillebotte,

REJECTED BY DIKEMBE MUTOMBO! REJECTED BY UCHICAGO! I didn't think that I was going to get accepted. UChicago accepts a certain type of person, and it's probably for the best that I wasn't accepted. First rejection though, there's some sting.

Rejected as well.

celticsfan, I can't believe you were deferred too. Your objective stats are great

ehh, i'm guessing it's due to the fact that i'm on disciplinary probation.
