@dsi411 omg much later than we all expected. I thought it’d be this Friday for sure.
I wish UChicago adopted a “short essay” system similar to that of Brown or MIT. I found that those types of essays were much easier to write and express personality.
Who is doing Early Decision II ?
Can I still do ED II for UChi or other schools if I’m (hopefully not) defered? :-??
i don’t think so? I’m not sure about EA but I know deferred ED applicants can only apply regular. Probably the same for EA
@Bse15578 @MyDearDeer deferred applicants of any kind can switch their decision to ED II, they spoke about this at the Open House in October
ED and EA’s who are deferred default to RD, but you can call your admissions officer and request a switch to ED II. Keep in mind that you will then be signing a binding contract (probably no big deal for the EDI’s as they did that already; however, the EA’s would now be committing themselves to UChicago in the event they are accepted).
@quoderatuhhh @JBStillFlying2 i didn’t know that, thank you guys! I thought we could only apply RD after being deferred.
@Bse15578 there was some confusion about this initially; however, the admissions website (currently) reads:
“Please note that our deadline for decision plan change from Early Action to Early Decision I is November 15th. Our deadline for deferred Early Action candidates or students who previously selected Regular Decision as their decision to change to Early Decision II is January 1.”

Around when tomorrow are we expecting them to release the decisions? Do they update the portal and expect us to check around that time or do they send us an email?
3 pm CST, per the other thread.
Thanks! Oh my I think the result will be out in like 12 hours? So nervous. Are you guys applying to ED II? And what other schools has ED II? I think like Vanderbilt and Emory?
I just read another post that said 4 pm CST. So not sure now but it’s probably one of the two.
i heard 4pm cst on the other thread?
Does anyone know if your odds are better ED vs EA? My son would love to go to Chicago but also is waiting for West Point, so he applied EA.
@sandiego95 odds will always be better ED because of the yield protection
Anyone know data from last year?
@sandiego95 they didn’t have both of them last year
Didn’t realize that , thanks!
