UChicago 2021 Applicant Thread

@DuelingGloves Were you contacted by email or through the portal?

@Houston1021 I was contacted through email!

How important is the UChicago interview in admissios decisions?

Apparently not very. My D was admitted early without one.

Hey guys anyone international who has got interview request?

@CuriousBobby Interviews are primarily there to help YOU learn more about the college and give you a deeper insight into why you might ultimately go to that school. They play a minimal part in admissions itself

Any UChicago interviewers here? I had mine yesterday and the guy told me at the end that he basically just emails UChicago letting them know that we met and talked, not much mention of a whole evaluation letter, etc. What is the standard process? Had a great interview, and would hate for none of that to be communicated in an evaluation to admissions.

My daughter requested an interview through the portal when she applied RD and has still not been contacted. We live in a major metro area. She visited the campus last summer, and she met with the U Chicago rep when he visited her high school. Are interviewers still in the process of contacting students? If she doesn’t get an interview will that adversely affect her chances for admission?

Does anyone know if UChicago send out likely letters, and if so, when?

@MCurie Just curious, how come you keep asking for each school if they send out likely letters, lol?

Because I’m disapointing myself with fake hope lol @VenomBuds !!! Hahah. Naw I just wanna know if decisions come in any earlier than march because I’m an impatient lil twerp!

@MCurie ohh lol. Yeah you shouldn’t do that to yourself lol. Extremely few applicants get likely letters. Go do something fun while waiting for decisions lol.

@MCurie someone did get a likely letter in January after switching to EDII upon deferral from EA. So you never know.

@Houston1021 My son got in last year without an interview. I hope that helps.

Thanks. D still has not been contacted about an interview, but neither has one of her high stat friends from another prep school in Houston that also applied RD. Hope springs eternal.

UChicago received the largest ever early applications. 13,000 for ED1and EA. Total admission from that was 9 %…About two thirds of the admits were ED1. This is startling when you consider the substantial double digit early admit stats for the other top peer colleges. It is also in line with this year being the most competitive by far for all college admissions.

They are probably very busy with applicants. I still haven’t been contacted for an interview.

@Houston1021 @ManaManaWegi

For UChicago you’re supposed to set up the interview yourself. However, the time to do this has already passed — the deadline was like in December to set up an interview. They did say it won’t have any effect on your application if you didn’t set up an interview, though.

@VenomBuds They probably mean that an interviewer hasn’t contacted them yet. After you request an interview, an interviewer has to contact you.

@masquerade98 Oh I see, that could be possible. But yeah they will only get contacted for an interview if they requested one from the portal.
