UChicago 2021 Applicant Thread

It is need based for international students

Need based doesn’t mean they don’t give fin aid to internationals. It only means that they can financially support a limited number of internationals. If they really like you, they might give you a full ride or something close.
I speak from experience as an international admitted to several need-based private schools with an almost full ride.

guys, I didn’t send my midyear report yet because of a problem in my school
is that okay :’( I’m dying over here

When are they releasing decisions ?

@Ahmedrezq Tomorrow; 4pm central time I believe

@Ahmedrezq 5:00 EST, 4:00 CT, 2:00 PDT

@Crystalline-asa Did they request it???

@Crystalline-asa To be completely honest, I’m not sure if it’s okay. The mid-year report is a huge part of the application. I’m surprised they didn’t send you a request.

Tell them. I think on the website it says that a late midterm won’t hurt you if it’s through the school’s end (such as midterm reports don’t come until much later). I would definitely check with admissions and try to get it all worked out.

Wait did everyone get a request for mid term report? Didn’t show up in checklist and no email…maybe Naviance schools are different?

Just checked the website:

Please have your high school counselor submit a midyear report with grades or a transcript for your first semester or first trimester by February 1 of the year you have applied, or as soon as possible thereafter. We are aware that schools may issue midyear grades at a later time, and students will not be penalized for submitting the report after this date.

So don’t stress too much over it. Make sure the school fixes the issue with your report and tell admissions of your situation.

@kibbles
They don’t request it. It’s just part of the requirement.

Wait so if the counselor submitted a mid year report on the common app that’s okay right?

They don’t “request”…but it’s a “requirement”. Lol. By definition, that’s a request.

@bluedreams Yes I think that’s the case. Most schools use a system where the common app is updated with midterm grades automatically (end of first semester or trimester). And schools let you know if you’re missing something for the most part.

@kibbles I thought you meant if they asked for it individually. :slight_smile:

I didn’t get an email indicating that decisions will be released tomorrow:/ ? Is that a bad indication?

No one did. They only indicated on Twitter and their website @Ahmedrezq

@Ahmedrezq nobody got an email, it was posted on UChicago Admissions twitter. Nothing to worry about.

Well I got rejected after deferral from BC so I’m really not that confident about UChicago…
