Guys have any of you spoken to your RAOs lately?
@Legends yeah I know that I should expect rejection. I completely understand the waitlist game. You still haven’t answered though, how do you know that they’ve already started taking ppl off and are finishing soon? Most schools don’t even look at their waitlists until after May 1.
@reindeercoffee exactly my point.
First time commenting! I’m also waitlisted but wanted to let everyone know that I know a girl who received an email from her admissions counselor asking when she was free for a phone call. Most likely an acceptance but she does go to a feeder school in NYC that they give a little more leeway to and might be calling her personally to let her know they’re not taking her/anyone off the waitlist.
how do you know!! @Legends
@katp27 Could you let us know what the admissions officer says once you get the call?
@katp27 Going by what happened in previous years, they are likely informing her that they are letting her in. Good luck to her and good luck to us all!
Currently losing my mind, besides the fact that I look at this group chat daily and my status update, UChicago waitlist statistics is the first recommendation on my browser. Anyways, does anyone know how colleges know which waitlisted candidates can pay full tuition. Like if you haven’t submitted financial aid, how are colleges are more likely to pick candidates that can pay full tuition off a waitlist? Aren’t they supposed to choose blindly until your accepted?
Unfortunately money becomes a factor when picking people off the waitlist.
But how would they know if you didn’t submit anything?
Yes I would think so.
Hey guys, I emailed my AO just following up on LOCI and she replied today. She said they would take into consideration continued interest should space become available off the waitlist. Not sure if this is saying there’s no space or there is, hella vague. I’m international btw
@w8listd4eternity If you didn’t submit anything you won’t get anything. But you’re right, it shouldn’t matter, on their website UChicago says they are need-blind “The University of Chicago’s consideration of applications for admission is need-blind for citizens of the U.S. and Canada as well as U.S. permanent residents. This means that for these applicants, submitting an application for need-based financial aid will have no bearing on admission to the College.”
@swimmy2022 But for waitlist it is another set of practice
@fakemonk is right, waitlist works differently and they will never admit it.
hey legends, i don’t have enough posts to send PMs could you message me if you’ve got any insights (esp gap year option)? would really appreciate that
Hey guys, I just called the admissions office and they said they are taking people off the waitlist on a rolling basis and have no final date on when they will finish up. That’s all they’d say. Hope this helps.
@Sanchez321 wow thanks a lot good luck to all
