<p>This is a topic of some confusion in this forum, and it's understandable why. The U of C has some crazy essay questions, and everyone and their mother is telling you to make sure you stand out. But you don't need to worry about being "quirky" or "crazy" or overly "creative." There's no trick. Just write the best piece of writing you can. Look at yourself and your world and do your best to put it on a page. And remember that good writing is rewriting. </p>
