UCHICAGO ADMITS! Advice for applicants with a low GPA?

Hey guys! If you were admitted into UCHICAGO, do you have any advice for the CC'ers who still have to go through the process? Personally, my unweighted GPA is a 3.6. If I had amazing EC's, test scores, reccomendation letters, and essays, is there a shot? Other advice is appreciated as well!

You sound EXACTLY like me and I just got in! My GPA was almost exactly that and my class rank similarly low. So yes, there is a hope!

I had a ~3.8 unweighted and received a likely letter. Win lots of awards and hope your school reports class rank (and that it deflates grades).

I had a 3.5 at my school but our grading is weird, so maybe they recalculate? Anyway, my GPA wasn’t very good. The best thing to do is do really well on standardized tests (SAT/ACT, ESPECIALLY AP exams) and for the love of all that is good, write your essays well! That seemed to be my saving grace, in addition to a couple of fairly substantial awards. Try and communicate you want to go there and would fit in well - at least from what I’ve heard from them, your GPA won’t define you as much as course rigor etc.

Good luck!

Thanks guys! I really appreciate it!
