Ok so I am female, hispanic.

I have a 3.63 unweighted (the one thats smallest GPA. I dont remember if its weighted or not). Our school does blocks, so its 4 classes one semester one another. So thats why Calculus/English Literature I have no grades on. I expect a B in both though.

Colleges:
UChicago-(Dream School, My #1)
UFlorida
NYU
Harvard
PennState
Yale
Princeton
Amherst
UMiami
FAU Honors College

I forgot to add, I am in a Technical School. I am in Programming and will recieve a certified programming certificate at the end of the year and will also be taking an AP java test.

Am I allowed to bump?

UChicago-reach
UFlorida-high match
NYU-low reach
Harvard-Rejected.
PennState-match
Yale-rejected.
Princeton-rejected.
Amherst-high match/low reach
UMiami-high match
FAU Honors College-Don’t know enough about it.

I think this is a decent list of schools to apply for, but HYP is out of your league. UChicago is a reach, I put your chances around 30-40%. Good luck, and I hope you get into UChicago!
Chance me?

I have a friend who applied to UChicago, your app is more impressive, and he got in, so I would say you have a chance. As far as HYP, contrary to the latter post, you have a chance. The huge weighing mechanism here will ultimately be your race. I don’t really like to say that, because you have fairly good academics, but race will ultimately be a factor in your favor. Good luck! I can’t tell you percentages, but I think you have a decent chance at a lot of those schools!

UChicago - High Reach
UFlorida - Low Reach
NYU - Low Reach
Harvard - Unless the scores improve I wouldn’t even try
PennState - High Match/Low Reach
Yale - See Harvard
Princeton - See Harvard
Amherst - Low/Mid Reach
UMiami - High Match/Low Reach
FAU Honors College - I’m unfamiliar with it

The benefit is that you are hispanic and the grades are at least pretty good but the ECs aren’t very special. I’d say you have a decent shot everywhere except the Ivies on the list. Chicago is definatley a stretch, but not an automatic deny, and depending on your state (I’m assuming Florida) then NYU might be tough, but not out of the question. Good Luck getting into your dream school =].

If you have a minute then, Chance Back? : http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/806870-senior-worried-about-chances-top-southern-schools.html</a></p>

Thank you for replying. I will try to chance back though im not sure im good at it. I dont expect miracles with the ivies, I will just apply to see. I know my race is a big factor, so its ok. And yes I hope I get into UC too. I applied early decision so I hope that helps my shot. If I do get in Ill be sure to mention it! <3
Thank you!

I think all of those schools are atleast a little bit of a reach.

you need to see what your new SAT score will be, and also see how each school will calculate your GPA (most schools recalculate it to make it an even playing field for everyone)
then recalculate your own GPA according to how each school will do it.
