There were actually some extra spaces left in BJ this year, so you can probably get it. Even if you don’t, I’ll bet you’ll be happy wherever you end up.

I committed a couple days ago, and I’m psyched! BJ, South, and Breckinridge are my top three, in that order. Anyone else from VA?

Committed yesterday; BJ, Breck, Maclean. I’ve basically known since Monday, though.

@HonorsCentaur: are you Chinese? I want to take the bilingual speakers class too, but I suspect my Chinese might not even be good enough for that, ha.

@machiavellismile: I used to live in Richmond, actually! I miss it sooo much sometimes. Where are you from?

Yes, I am indeed Chinese.
I am fluent but illiterate, so hopefully that’s where the bilingual classes come in!
I want to finish French, but possibly Italian, Russian, or Spanish as well.

Economics!

Max P., Pierce, Snell-Hitchcock

Am I the only one freaking out that none of my choices are going to be available? I really want a dorm close to the quadrangle/gyms but I fear it’s too late…

Coincidentally I used to live in York Town, VA, not far from Richmond, and am fluent in Russian! haha

^Are you Russian? That’s really an advantage coz it’s sooo hard to pick up Russian as a foreign language!

maybe chinese bilingual for me too hehe

anybody know if there’s an “official” facebook page for 2014?? I think it’d be nice to get to know some of my future classmates before September O_O hahaha I’m already excited.

^Have you tried Phoenix Facebook for admitted students? Have you uploaded your picture?

committed last week! I put south, max p, and pierce for housing. I’m thinking of switching max p and south though… any input? from what i’ve heard the atmosphere in both dorms are very similar

Max P and South are the newest and I heard most social.

I have Max, BJ, South Campus in that order. Bit of an odd mix as far as I can tell, but I like newness, private bathrooms, proximity to gym, quietness…

i put max p, south, and BJ

Class of 2014 for sure! Committed last Saturday after coming back from the 22-23 overnight visit. My dorm choices are South, Max P, and Pierce. Jeez, I thought if I put those down I’d be in for sure since there are so many rooms available…hopefully all the people that don’t post on CC picked the other ones. lol

Welcome! Feel free to PM with any questions (though I generally only check CC when I’m procrastinating on papers… )

Guys, everyone should make their accounts on phoenix facebook on the Chicago website (log into your account and then click connect). Also, check out the facebook group [University of Chicago Class of 2014 | Facebook](<a href=“Facebook Public Group | Facebook”>Facebook Public Group | Facebook). The more people that join the better!

Just turned in my deposit!!

For housing I put: Breck, BJ and Maclean.

I was going to put those same houses, zakuropanda! But then my friend (UChicago first year) told me to do different ones.

Any particular reasons?

Committed in early April but didn’t reject other schools 'til today.
It feels so real now. I love the insider’s guide; really reaffirmed Chicago’s quirkiness.
Top 3 Halls: Blackstone, Broadview, and Max P (because of the private bathrooms).
See you all next year!

@zakuropanda,

I really wanted a single, nice facilities, and possibly a private (or shared) bathroom. However, I committed a bit late in the game, so I was afraid that I might not get any of my choices. I have a friend who is a freshman in Max (she’s living off campus next year, though), and she suggested that I do BJ, South, and Max as my three choices. I kept BJ as first since it meets most of my criteria, but I also thought that South had really nice facilities, even though the chance of a single is slightly lessened and bathrooms are communal. And Max was nice as well. I didn’t stay there overnight, but I spent most of my evening college visit there, hanging out with my friend. I liked that the bathrooms were private (but shared), and I wouldn’t mind the suite-style living. I think it’d help me make friends more quickly. Plus, Max and South are bigger houses, so they gave me better odds of getting in than I would have had with Breck and Maclean. Looking back, I think I was also deciding between Broadview and Blackstone.
