UChicago called home

This past December, I was accepted by both Cornell University and the University of Chicago. Cornell is Early Decision and thus, binding, so it will definitely be the place I enroll at in the fall. I recall, before I knew my decisions, reading an entry on the UChicago blog about how sad admissions officers felt when an EA applicant would not commit to UChicago. Today, I took a nap because I was pooped after school and when I woke up my Dad told me that UChicago called but he didn't pick up because he wouldn't have known what to say. Assuming they call back again, am I going to have to break to them that I binded to Cornell and can't attend. Did I do something wrong? I'm starting to wonder if I wasn't allowed to apply Cornell ED AND UChicago EA. Is there any other reason for the call? I get really paranoid about this kind of stuff :/.
Thanks in advance.

You probably should have contacted the office earlier to withdraw your application. I can’t see why you’d be in trouble though, isn’t that the purpose of single-choice early action at Yale and Stanford?

I received a call too. It was a casual call to see whether I have any question.
There is nothing to worry about. Just tell them that you are going to Cornell.

Over the next several days UChicago student volunteers will attempt to call EA admits just to see if you have questions about housing, school experience, etc. that we might be able to answer. So, not in trouble! If you don’t get a call or aren’t around when we call, don’t worry! We’ll try and leave messages or call back if we can, and as always you can ask questions by e-mail at psac@uchicago.edu.

I got call too. Man I love the university of chicago. They are so thoughtful, a happy New Year card and a call from an admitted student.

I wanna get into UofC so much more now. D:
This can’t be good for me…

Wow, that was really considerate of UChicago. It looks like they really care about their admits. I hope I get in!!!

I got a call too. Did anybody else find the call somewhat awkward?

Anonymous1993: yeah, I found it awkward, but I think I’m the one to blame for the awkwardness of my phone call, I just asked one question, and then had a couple of silent moments. I was just like “that was kinda my only question… yeah…” I feel like I was to blame for that. Hopefully it has no bearing on my acceptance decision haha

My call was suuuper awkward, mostly because I’d only gotten like 3 hours of sleep the night before, had just gotten home, and didn’t really have any specific questions. >.<

Yeah it was awkward but I appreciate what they are doing. I didn’t have any questions mostly because I didn’t expect it…

Mine was extremely awkward. I accidentally ended the convo, out of habit, like “thanks for calling, if I have any more questions…” then I paused for a long time 'cause I didn’t want to be a creeper and say “I’ll call you/email you etc” LOL fail fail fail… >.<!

Mine was pretty awkward. I asked if he would go to UChicago again if he had the chance. He said, quote, “That’s a complicated question…I think so…”

Yyyyyyeeeeaaaahhhhhhh.

I was in the shower when I got my call, but my mom insisted on handing me the phone anyway…THANKS, MOM. My caller was really cool and laid-back, but I just told him the admitted students’ website pretty much answered all my questions. (I was freezing, I had to turn the water off in the stall and I just wanted to end the convo…) He gave me a phone number and e-mail address to contact if I had further questions, though. Really nice…I’m impressed with UChicago’s dedication to making new admits feel comfortable.

^where’s this admitted students’ website?

^ D has been checking out [Orientation | The College Orientation](http://orientation.uchicago.edu). Not sure if there is another website for admitted students

^Ok Thanks!

Teehee, I was one of the folks calling y’all.

What is your major? You might have called me.

The admitted students website should be in a link from the site where you got your decision.
