UChicago class of 2016 Early Action applicants unite!

I’m applying early. So excited! 2210 SAT as of right now waiting for october results. Seriously though I feel like you get a good feel for a school from their supp and chicagos essays are amazing!

EA applicant as well! Currently having panic attacks!
Theater/Bio major right hurr.

I’m applying EA! I love Chicago. 2320 SAT, 800 800 800 SAT II. I’ve already written my supplemental essay (“something you weren’t looking for” prompt) - it’s about 600 words. I’ve actually been trying to convince myself the whole day to start my Why Chicago essay, but so far I haven’t written a single word…

I wrote my Why Chicago essay and my common app essay already, and now all i have to do is finish the extended essay. I chose the pose a question of your own. If Chicago had ED, I would totally commit to it. I am determined to get in. lol.

oh, and did you guys have/ will have your interview on campus or alumni? (for those who elected to have an interview)

EA here as well! Also, I had my interview in June…I signed up before I went to campus and it went well, so hopefully that helps! Can’t wait!

EA applicant as well. Now the real stress and waiting begins :(. Did any of y’all go on the facebook group for the 2015 group? They were fighting like cats and dogs haha!

haha nope I don’t know of that facebook group… I prefer college confidential over fb for discussing college though :)

Hey guys, I’m also applying to U Chicago EA! My stats:
SAT I - 2350 (800 CR, 800 M, 750 W)
SAT II - 800 M2, 780 Physics, 740 US History
GPA - 3.47 UW, 3.78 W. (Would it help to say that the highest GPA in my graduating class is 3.73 UW, 4.04W?)
Honors & Awards: AP Scholar with Distinction (I’m an out of country resident)

ECs: VP of Model UN Club
Treasurer of Drama Club
Worship leader for youth group and city-wide retreats.
Founder and Band Director of school show-choir
Varsity Cross-country
Varsity Table Tennis (Team municipal championship 2010-2011)
Student Council Class Representative
Spanish Club (Vice President and founding member)

Think I have a shot?

EA applicant here and I don’t have anything near what admiraljes has but I’m hoping my on-campus interview (Veteran’s day!) goes well and that I can perfect my essay(s) in time.

I’m applying here EA! Don’t know too much about the school though, or if I even have a chance.

Basic stats-2300, top 10%, study three languages, captain of sports teams, award for speech competitions, published research/awards for research

Essays aren’t amazing though.

I feel the same as you, Treehugga. Good/decent numbers and extracurriculars (hopefully my small-townness balances my lack of research lol) but I’m having trouble coming up with a good essay…

Hi all! Joining the nervous sweaty EA bandwagon…I have three different half-drafts of the extended essay and I have no idea which to pick.

For interviews, I thought that you could only arrange one after you’ve submitted your app, is that wrong? How can I set one up?

@dugong
I already had an on campus interview back in August even though I didn’t submit my application yet. I’m not sure how it works for alumni interview. You should check their website.

Which prompt is everyone doing for the extended essay?

My interview is coming up! I’ll probably sweat from every pore possible nonstop. Cheers, my fellow EA prospects! :)

UChicago is my reach school. My average is good, but I don’t think it’s good enough (mind you, it’s 97.34 weighted, around a 93 unweighted), mostly because I didn’t want to stress myself out for those extra few points (I don’t deal well with stress). I have some extracurriculars. I’ve been involved in mostly band-related stuff, such as musicals, though I’m also the drum major of a local volunteer marching band. I’m the president of my school’s anime club, and am a member of our gaming club (D&D, board games, and children’s card games), as well as our MS Awareness club. That’s the basic stuff. I’ve been involved in several other things for short periods of time.

SAT: 2050 (690 CR, 650 Math, 710 Writing) (Not surprised with the writing score. Writing is my strong point.)
SAT IIs: 720 World History, TBA Math 2 (scores in two days)

So yeah, not an overly strong candidate. Again, it’s more of a “reach” school for me. Currently writing my supplemental essay while listening to one of the Doctor Who themes.

Officially sent in my application, AHHHHHHH!

question-I checked off the “interested in an alumni interview?” box, but nothing has happened…are they supposed to email me? I’m a bad writer, but “people skills” are my strength, so I really want to have the oppurtunity to have one!

Early Action applicants - make sure to tweet/ email ViewChicago today: https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/viewchicago/

The show is at 4pm CST. Admissions counselors and current students will answer all and any of your questions, streaming live from UChicago :)

I’m applying EA as well, though my stats are not comparable in the least to any of yours. Someone mentioned a facebook group? Can somebody link that?
