@betcalit I was born in Nairobi! I live in California now.
@Indigoraccoon4 No way! I am a future pub pol or int affairs major too… that’s crazy
thats awesome! What concentration? I am really in to education policy but politics and government affairs in general too
@maiphuong: If it makes you feel better, your essays and GPA are considered more than test scores.
Does anyone know if 2500 words for the supplement is toolong.?
hey guys! do we have a date yet?
Also. Since GPA is very important, if I get a B or B+ first semester of senior year and the rest my grades are all A’s (except B+) in PE freshman year. Do you think that will affect chances. DO they care about 1st grades?. I’m currently taking 8 AP courses.
@PorkyPig12: UChicago essays are more strongly considered over GPA and test scores. I don’t think those grades would affect you.
Hey @ampoampo, we don’t have a date yet–they announced a date last year on the 12th tho, so we might get one by then!
I’m so nervous! How do you guys stop yourself from obsessing over uchicago haha
I take turns obsessing over other schools
@ampoampo
I’ve heard December 17 but I may be wrong…the website just says mid-December instead of an official release date
They just posted on FB that it will be late afternoon on Friday the 18th.
Thanks!
Good luck to all. I remember nervously waiting around for DS to get home from school on that day. Then he couldn’t remember his password!!! When we finally read the e-mail we laughed and cried at the same time.
Leaving it to the last possible moment. That’s going to be about midnight - perhaps 1 AM - and some 12 hours after my school’s term ends. Looooovely. Just lovely.
This could mean they’ve had a significant jump in EA applications (+1000, +2000, or even +3000), which has me a little worried.
December 18th is not that far off from previous reply dates so I wouldn’t be too worried about the jump in EA apps.
Speaking of other schools, do you guys have suggestions of other schools similar to Uchicago I should apply to RD? I want a liberal arts university and looking in the midwest/northeast/California. Suggestions?
Hey! I visited Williams College in Massachusetts and loved it! You should also checkout Dartmouth! It’s an Ivy, so obviously esteemed, but it is very similar to the traditional liberal arts college! I will be applying to both!
@Indigoraccoon4 you should check out Carleton and Grinnell. I think they both have a lot of the same atmospheres as UChicago.
