Does anybody know how many people applied early either this or last year?
Just got deferred from MIT (which is better than I expected.) UC was a more likely bet so hoping for good news
dear admissions officer can U(chica)Go accept me
thnx
If you think about it they probably have our decisions already…
@kathkath42 I was thinking about the same thing when I got deferred from Brown! It’s so stressful knowing that my decision is probably sitting on their computer somewhere, waiting for the timer to the button to be hit to be sent to me. WHY CAN’T THEY JUST DO IT ALREADY?
@jacobpilawa I guess they’re still deciding on those kids who are on the fence between acceptance and deferral…
@jacobpilawa Also deferred from Brown! So sad.
I emailed my Admissions Counselor a question and he subtly dropped in the words “in the event of a deferred decision” in the email reply and I don’t know if he was hinting at something. Any words of comfort?
@Han456 I am still really, really bummed about it. :///// Just hope I get in RD.
@sandmankraju It’s hard making any assumptions without knowing the context of the correspondence. But I wouldn’t worried, I doubt he/she meant anything by it. Honestly, he/she probably doesn’t know your decision, and I doubt they would care to look it up. Each officer goes through hundreds of apps, I doubt they remember everyone who is accepted or deferred.
@jacobpilawa they have already made decisions. They called my school’s guidance department on Monday to say they accepted 3 kids from my school (but obviously couldn’t say who).
That moment when you get UMich and UC EA results the same day
If you applied EA, should you know by now if you got in or not? Or is it still not til Friday?
Not until Friday! Expect them some time in the late afternoon (on Chicago time) @College5225
I think we know if we got deferred/accepted/rejected on Friday at 4 (central)
@squishybaby Hey! You might be one of those 3! Hopefully they accept someone from our school. We had 3 accepted last year overall and two attend so they might have more interest in our school for yield rate reasons. UChicago is highly regarded in my school.
@squishybaby It could be you!! Btw-where’s your school? In state, oos (east west north south), international?
PA applicant here! Good luck to everyone tomorrow
Wait what the heck… Why do they call to say they accepted three kids? Schools do that!? I talk to my guidance counselor everyday and she never said anything… Oh god
@tutututututuru I read this book called “Gatekeepers” about college admissions at Wesleyan University, and many college admissions officers will call high school guidance counselors at prestigious/top-tier feeder schools to let them know how many applicants got in from their school ahead of time
