@ravenclaws me too! I used an untranslatable word and used it as a social critique / communicated my ideas on what perfection is.
If I sent the CSS to Uchicago I’m all good for right now right? As far as FA forms/deadlines go
I submitted the CSS Profile instead of the UChicago Financial Aid sheet which they say they allow and is perfectly fine @tutututututuru
@HariboGoldBear Sure, just PM it to me or something. Keep in mind I’m not an adcom so those are just my opinions
@Lift35 Glad to hear it. Thanks!
Anyone mention TV shows in their essays? I made a comparison of UChicago to a place within
the show “Arrow” :))
@Lift35 I wanted to, but then didn’t bc tv shows weren’t in the list of things they said they wanted you to mention :(( I should have
How good is U chicago’s aid?
@Livingteen1209 I think UChicago is pretty generous because all the financial aid they give you is in terms of grants, not loans. I’m not sure about anything specific though:/
@mazuka omg that sounds super interesting!
Probably an odd question, but would it be worth it/would it hurt to email my regional admissions officer and ask what UChicago defines as a first
generation student out of curiosity? I know the policy differs for many universities and they don’t directly state it on their website
@Lift35 The definition of a first-gen student is fairly standard IIRC. If neither of your parents has a diploma from a 4-year institution (or a foreign equivalent - some UK colleges allow you to earn a Bachelor’s in 3 years), you’re first-gen, and that’s all there is to it.
@NotVerySmart does that apply if my parents only received Associate’s Degrees? Most of the ivies consider a student first-gen if their parents never pursued or received a bachelor’s* and same goes for foreign degrees I was just curious if UChicago was the same way because I know some institutions just use the standard no education after high school at all.
I believe UChicago would consider you first-gen, though I could be wrong.
I couldn’t find that information on the site at a glance, but it may be there.
@NotVerySmart I could not find it either and I hope I am considered so!
Had my interview yesterday.
@Dilan412 I had my interview on Friday afternoon! How did it go for you?
@JHGbarr I thought mine honestly went really really well, pretty much perfect. We talked for about an hour and 15 minutes and I didn’t realize it was even that long until I was done. When I got there, the alumni interview chair matched me up with someone with my interest so we really talked a lot. I have interest in business so we talked about UCIB, efficient marking hypothesis, asset pricing class I took through Coursera and what he took live, etc. It really was great. How did yours go?
I still haven’t been offered an interview :(( I really want one
Also, on the portal it only asks for parent tax forms, does anyone know if they want student tax forms? Has anyone found a way to check if all materials are in?
I want an interview too! Waiting until mid-December is killing me haha… So anxious for early action results
My interview didn’t last any longer than 15 minutes. There wasn’t any connection through interests and the interviewer seemed to be in a hurry to leave. I left disappointed and honestly a bit shocked.
I also may have been too concise! The form they fill out must not have very many questions so take your time.
On your uchicago.edu application account they have a checklist of required materials and the date they were received. Otherwise I’d go ahead and email them, they are friendly people.
